Job Description
The Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS) team at Visa drives growth by managing payment flows and solutions across four segments: Visa Commercial Solutions, Visa Government Solutions, Money Movement Solutions, including Visa Direct, Currencycloud and B2B Connect, and Visa Cross-Border Solutions.
Visa Direct is a core component of Money Movement Solutions, enabling fast, secure, and scalable payments to cards, accounts and wallets globally. Together with Currencycloud, Visa Direct supports domestic and cross-border money movement use cases, including payouts, collections, account funding, wallet payments, FX and currency management, and virtual account capabilities, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
Role Overview
The Director of Business Development will lead the business development, commercialisation and growth of Visa Direct solutions in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, with a focus on expanding cross-border and domestic money movement flows and leveraging Currencycloud capabilities across collections, FX, payouts and virtual accounts.
This role is responsible for establishing and growing the distribution strategy for Visa Direct money movement platforms and Currencycloud capabilities across multiple client segments in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean. The individual will lead specialist sales for Visa Direct solutions, working closely with Visa Account Executives and cross-functional teams to prioritise the Visa Direct and Currencycloud suite of products and capabilities for relevant client needs and priority payment flows.
The role will focus on building a strong go-to-market strategy, developing a qualified sales pipeline, driving new deal acquisition, supporting market-expanding partnerships, and delivering incremental revenue growth. The individual will represent Visa Direct and Currencycloud in market, engage senior stakeholders, gather market feedback, and help position Visa as a trusted partner in the future of domestic and cross-border money movement across Mauritius and the Indian Ocean.
This individual will report into Visa Direct leadership within the CEMEA Money Movement organisation and will be accountable for business development and sales in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, including the adoption of relevant Currencycloud capabilities to support commercial payment flows, collections and payout mandates, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Market Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute a market growth strategy for Visa Direct in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, including priority client segments, payment flows, corridors and use cases.
- Translate the market vision into practical roadmaps, objectives and execution plans that support Visa Direct and Currencycloud growth priorities.
- Identify, qualify and validate new opportunities across cross-border and domestic money movement, including payouts, collections, conversions, account funding, wallet payments, FX and virtual account solutions, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Assess market opportunities, unit economics, pricing considerations and commercial viability to support clear go/no-go recommendations.
- Build a strong understanding of the Mauritius and Indian Ocean payments ecosystem, client needs, competitive dynamics, regulatory considerations and digital innovation trends.
- Identify new pockets of opportunity and work with cross-functional teams to scale Visa Direct and Currencycloud sales efforts in market.
Sales and Pipeline Development
- Build, manage and maintain a strong pipeline of Visa Direct and Currencycloud opportunities across banks, fintechs, payment players and other relevant client segments.
- Drive new deal acquisition, commercial discussions, strategic partnerships and revenue growth.
- Engage senior stakeholders at client institutions and lead sales pitches, presentations and strategic discussions.
- Position Visa Direct and Currencycloud alongside the broader Visa organisation to unlock client value and support Visa’s money movement growth priorities.
- Lead or support the identification, evaluation and negotiation of partnerships that expand use cases, distribution and revenue.
- Respond to RFPs and develop, manage and coordinate pitch materials, commercial proposals and deal execution plans.
- Win new deals and deliver against agreed sales and revenue targets.
Client Engagement and Market Representation
- Represent Visa Direct and Currencycloud in market and industry forums, helping to position Visa as a leading money movement partner in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean.
- Act as a thought leader on cross-border and domestic money movement trends, including the role of cards, accounts, wallets, virtual accounts, FX, collections and payouts in enabling new payment flows.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and ecosystem partners.
- Support Visa Direct and Currencycloud marketing and client engagement activities by helping shape relevant messaging, market narratives and client value propositions.
- Gather market feedback and competitive insights to strengthen Visa’s value proposition, sales enablement and competitive strategy.
Execution and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate across Product, Strategy, Sales, Solutioning, Client Services, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance and other regional and global CMS teams to support deal execution and successful client outcomes.
- Work closely with global strategy, legal and compliance teams to support licensing and market expansion planning from concept through launch and scale, ensuring alignment, clear milestones and outcome-based metrics.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the sales strategy is aligned with Visa’s broader strategy, CMS leadership priorities and client growth objectives.
- Take an active role in opportunity development, issue resolution, contracting, implementation readiness and commercial activation.
- Support install-base growth through stakeholder management, strategic planning, account development plans and quarterly business reviews that help clients expand, adopt new products and renew partnerships.
- Help establish strong sales management practices, including CRM discipline, portfolio governance, performance dashboards and post-launch reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Proactively identify and solve complex problems that may impact client relationships, opportunity progression or revenue delivery.
- Manage long-term opportunities and support successful deal closure and implementation.

Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, payments, fintech, banking, business development, sales or a related commercial role.
- Strong sales and business development track record, with experience building pipeline, managing complex deals and delivering revenue growth.
- Strong background in payments, transaction banking, cash management, global money movement, remittance, SaaS or platform-led financial services.
- Knowledge of cross-border payments, domestic money movement, fintech ecosystems, B2B payment trends and emerging payment use cases.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to engage senior decision-makers and lead client discussions with confidence and credibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in B2B payments, money movement, remittances, digital wallets, account-to-account payments, card payments, FX, collections, payouts or virtual account solutions, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to develop go-to-market plans, commercial narratives, sales enablement materials and client value propositions.
- Strong understanding of regulated financial services environments, including risk, compliance, licensing and operational considerations.
- Understanding of fintech, banking landscapes and payment systems, including regulatory dynamics and digital innovation trends.
- Excellent business acumen, including revenue growth, pricing, ROI, commercial economics and market opportunity assessment.
- Ability to work in a complex, matrixed and fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline and commercial judgement.
- Collaborative, flexible and able to influence across teams without direct authority.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including executive-level presentations; additional regional languages are a plus.
- Experience mentoring or leading teams, with a commitment to talent development and collaborative execution.
- Knowledge of product management, data-driven insights and finance.
- Master’s degree preferred.
