Job Description

Butterfly Network is on a mission to democratize medical imaging. Our handheld, whole-body ultrasound platform — combining Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology, AI-guided software, and cloud connectivity — is transforming access to diagnostics in some of the world's most underserved healthcare settings. Africa is one of the most important frontiers of that mission.

This is a rare role that combines commercial channel leadership with global health impact. You will own and grow Butterfly's distributor ecosystem across Africa while leading our engagement with Ministries of Health, NGOs, development agencies, and international funders — converting large-scale health system opportunities into sustainable, multi-year programs. You will be both a revenue driver and a market builder.

Distributor Management & Commercial Growth

  • Own commercial performance across your African distributor portfolio: revenue, forecasting, funnel management, and territory planning.
  • Drive accountability through structured business reviews and jointly developed annual business plans, building sustainable repeat-order growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, recruit, and onboard new distributors in priority markets.
  • Expand penetration across public health systems, private hospitals, NGOs, military healthcare, and academic institutions.

Deal Support & Sales Enablement

  • Support partners through the full sales cycle — from opportunity identification to contract closure — including government tenders, RFPs, framework agreements, and donor-funded projects.
  • Lead from the front in customer meetings, executive presentations, workshops, and demonstrations.
  • Coach distributor teams on value-based selling and competitive positioning.

Global Health & Strategic Partnerships

  • Lead Butterfly's engagement with global health stakeholders across Africa: Ministries of Health, international NGOs, development agencies, multilateral institutions, and funders.
  • Develop country-level strategies that position Butterfly within national healthcare transformation and diagnostic access initiatives.
  • Build and advance a robust pipeline of large-scale opportunities — national deployments, consortium partnerships, grants, and competitive tenders — capable of delivering sustainable multi-year revenue.
  • Establish Butterfly as a trusted partner for healthcare capacity building, coordinating cross-functionally with Global Health, Clinical, Regulatory, and Marketing teams.

Clinical Adoption & Market Development

  • Deliver product, clinical, commercial, and competitive training; help partners build clinical champions and KOL networks.
  • Facilitate evaluations, pilots, and proof-of-concept deployments, and grow reference sites and centers of excellence.
  • Drive utilization and adoption beyond initial device placement, targeting high-potential segments including Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Maternal Health, Primary Care, and EMS.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and demand planning.
  • Monitor partner KPIs, ensure compliance with pricing policies and brand standards, and implement corrective action plans where needed.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • 5+ years in medical devices, ultrasound, digital health, diagnostics, imaging, or healthcare technology.
  • Proven track record managing distributors across Africa and achieving revenue targets through channel partners.
  • Hands-on experience with government tenders, public procurement, NGOs, and donor-funded healthcare programs.
  • Strong distributor recruitment, channel development, and business planning skills, including forecasting, funnel reviews, and performance analytics.
  • Fluent English.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • French strongly preferred; Portuguese and/or Arabic a significant advantage.
  • Existing relationships within Ministries of Health, global health organizations, or development funders.
  • Clinical, biomedical, or scientific background, or experience in ultrasound/POCUS specifically.

Values

Innovation is what we do. Our values are how we make it happen. Butterflies are and believe in…

  • Patient-Centric Innovators: Our mission is THE mission.
  • Empowered to Impact: Every voice matters.
  • One Team, One Goal: Unity fuels progress.
