Sr Business Development Manager - Bank Channel

Human Interest · United States, Remote

Human Interest is on a mission to ensure that people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.

More than half of all working Americans are not saving enough for their future. Too often, it’s because they are employed by a company that doesn’t offer a retirement plan. Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings.

We’re a high-growth fintech company changing the retirement industry. We are backed by a number of investors. This includes funding from Marshall Wace and Baillie Gifford, as well as top investors such as BlackRock, TPG (The Rise Fund), SoftBank, Glynn Capital, NewView Capital, USVP, Wing, Uncork, and more.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Business Development Manager to spearhead our expansion into the National and Regional Banking channel. This is a high-impact, "hunter" role focused on accelerating commercial outcomes by identifying, securing, and activating partnerships with major financial institutions across North America.
The ideal candidate is a sophisticated deal-maker who understands the intersection of fintech and traditional banking. You will be responsible for uncovering new partnership leads, navigating complex institutional hierarchies, and turning existing network introductions into massive growth opportunities. Your goal is to position Human Interest as a top tiered partner which could include Human Interest as the embedded retirement layer of choice for the banking channel. This role will report into our Strategic Partnership team.

About the team

The Strategic Business Development team is the front line for Human Interest’s growth. We don't just manage relationships, we build markets and partnerships that open growth opportunities for the broader organization. You will join a high-performing group of builders who are disrupting how retirement benefits are delivered through the national and regional financial partnership industry.

What you get to do every day

  • Experience working with large, complex external partners—preferably in accounting, consulting, fintech, or SaaS ecosystems.
  • Strong ability to operate within and influence a matrixed environment, aligning diverse internal stakeholders toward a common goal.
  • Compile and maintain a thorough understanding of the systems and capabilities of the key competitors within the HCM market, developing a competitive analysis against our systems.
  • Create impactful new business pitches and understand prospective partner system requirements to build strategies for making technology a core competitive advantage in any new partnership opportunities.
  • Lead partner engagement from initial discovery through due diligence, solution design, commercial structuring, contracting, and long‑term relationship stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the development team for Product updates, integrations and enhancements.
  • Maintain a transparent and well‑governed partner pipeline, providing accurate forecasting and supporting responsible, sustainable new plan or revenue growth.
  • A demonstrated track record of turning partnership frameworks into tangible business impact.
  • Clear, confident, and professional communication skills, with an ability to engage senior-level stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, making strategic decisions with limited guidance.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify and address any issues or challenges within partner relationships, and provide solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Stay informed on regulatory, competitive, and technological developments shaping sponsor banking, embedded finance, and digital banking to ensure programs remain compliant, competitive, and future looking.

What you bring to the role

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Sales or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, relationship management, or strategic partnerships within financial services, fintech or SaaS.
  • Strong understanding of the banking ecosystem, 401(k), API‑driven financial products, partnerships and digital banking infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of closing complex enterprise deals and managing multi‑stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive‑level presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive insights.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with high levels of autonomy.
  • Willing to flex with constant change and competing priorities
  • Be a team player
  • Results-Driven: A proactive, goal-oriented sales professional with a focus on driving measurable partner outcomes.
  • Partner obsession: We're all about creating amazing experiences for our partners. We put their needs first and go the extra mile to exceed their expectations.
