AstraZeneca · Australia – New South Wales

Do you have expertise in clinical trial feasibility, and a passion for delivering groundbreaking therapies to patients? Would you like to apply your experience toward building feasibility and site strategy on a national scale, in a science-led organization delivering life-changing medicines? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you!

About AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines, primarily for the treatment of diseases in four therapy areas – Oncology; Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM); Respiratory & Immunology (R&I); and Rare Disease.

AstraZeneca Australia has worked for over 60 years to deliver the best value to patients. We advance science to develop life-changing medicines.

As part of a new, fast‑growing global cell therapy team, we are building the frameworks, networks and capabilities needed to accelerate delivery of novel, complex therapies to patients.

Reporting to the local Senior Director for Cell Therapy Clinical Trials, you will partner with regional and global feasibility leaders as Australia’s expert on site landscape, investigator networks and operational readiness, proactively mapping new therapeutic areas and centres, delivering actionable insights, and helping shape cell therapy ways of working.

This is full time, permanent role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne, working remotely with regular travel to sites across Australia and head office in Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Lead end‑to‑end country feasibility for internally delivered studies, providing a single point of contact for Australian feasibility inputs and timelines.
  • Analyse country landscape, standard of care and competitive activity to inform optimal study design, site selection and realistic recruitment baselines.
  • Build and maintain investigator and site networks across Australia, conducting on‑site visits to assess capability for complex, early‑phase and first‑in‑human studies.
  • Develop and socialise country‑specific and site‑specific recruitment and retention strategies, aligned to patient needs, regulatory requirements and study objectives.
  • Partner with Cell Therapy Field Clinical Advisers, Patient Operations and Clinical Research Associates to translate feasibility insights into delivery plans and risk mitigations.
  • Champion best practice use of planning and analytics platforms and providing high‑quality, timely feasibility responses and knowledge transfer to study teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, healthcare)
  • Substantial experience (approximately 5+ years) in clinical development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, including country‑level feasibility and patient recruitment planning.
  • Experience in oncology and/or complex modalities (e.g., cell therapy, gene therapy) and early‑phase or first‑in‑human studies.
  • Proven track record leading complex study feasibility or site start‑up activities, with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of ICH/GCP and relevant Australian regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to travel within Australia to visit sites and collaborators as required (approximately 30–40% travel).
  • Proficiency with feasibility, forecasting and study planning digital platforms (eg. Veeva Clinical Vault).

Desirable for the role:

  • Experience working with Clinical Research Organisations, academic groups and Key Opinion Leaders to shape site and investigator engagement.
  • Exposure to immunology or autoimmune therapeutic areas (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis) and feasibility in non‑oncology settings.
  • Experience operating in regional or global matrix teams, influencing across functions and adapting to ambiguity in a scaling organisation.
