Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About the team

When you join our Core Analytics Team, you become part of a centralized hub of analytics excellence. This team provides the unique opportunity to work alongside a world-class peer group, leveraging centrally maintained tools and resources to drive impactful results. We emphasize continuous learning and development, ensuring team members are always growing their skills and expertise. Collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and Business teams, we deliver data-driven insights and innovative capabilities that guide our stakeholders, shape our strategies, and enhance the experiences of Roku's users globally.

About the role

Every time a Roku user browses for something to watch, the quality of what they see — the title, the artwork, the description — shapes whether they click or keep scrolling. That experience depends on metadata provided at scale across hundreds of partners. This role sits at the intersection of that problem and the data science needed to solve it.

As a Senior Data Scientist on the Core Analytics team, you'll work with Content Operations, Engineering, and Product to bring rigor to how we measure, predict, and improve content discovery across the platform. You won't just report on what's broken — you'll build the systems that catch problems before users ever see them, quantify the business cost of quality gaps, and give partners the visibility to self-improve. It's applied data science with a direct line to the viewer experience. This role is a strong fit for someone with strong attention to detail, sharp modeling instincts, and a preference for building proactive systems over chasing reactive alerts.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $179,900 - $190,000 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you'll be doing

  • Build models that connect content metadata, artwork, and enrichment quality to downstream user engagement and conversion outcomes
  • Evaluate content quality risk before titles go live on platform
  • Design statistical frameworks to detect anomalies, schema drift, and quality regressions across partner ingestion pipelines
  • Benchmark partner content quality by its impact on platform performance, providing a rigorous basis for remediation prioritization
  • Build analytics and reporting that shows partners how their metadata and artwork quality connects to their title performance, closing the feedback loop
  • Translate complex analyses into clear narratives, dashboards, and recommendations for Content Ops, Partnerships, and leadership
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that power quality monitoring, validation, and operational reporting
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product to embed data quality signals into platform workflows and partner tooling
  • Provide leadership with actionable insights on content metadata integrity trends and partner performance

We're excited if you have

  • 5+ years of professional experience with a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer products, digital media, entertainment, or a related industry
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with analytical or programming languages such as Python, R, or similar tools
  • Experience building predictive models, quality scoring systems, or anomaly detection pipelines in a production environment
  • Hands-on experience with statistical process control, data quality monitoring, or operational analytics
  • Familiarity with content metadata systems, media supply chains, or partner data ingestion workflows (a plus, not a requirement)
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Looker
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including partners and executives
  • Ability to approach problems proactively and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
