This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist 3 based in South Africa.

This role sits at the intersection of advanced data science, engineering, and client consulting, focused on solving complex, high-impact problems for global brands. You will work within a multidisciplinary technical team to transform large-scale marketing and behavioral data into actionable insights and scalable solutions. The position involves hands-on work with machine learning, big data platforms, and cloud technologies to support analytics-driven decision-making. You will also collaborate directly with clients and internal stakeholders to translate business challenges into robust analytical and engineering solutions. The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and deeply technical, with strong emphasis on innovation and practical impact. In addition to delivery work, you will contribute to mentoring junior team members and shaping technical best practices. This role offers a unique blend of client-facing consulting, technical leadership, and advanced data science execution.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and deploy advanced data science and machine learning solutions to solve complex client and business problems.
  • Design and optimize data models, predictive systems, and analytical frameworks using large-scale datasets.
  • Work with data engineering teams to build, maintain, and improve scalable data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
  • Leverage tools such as Python, SQL, and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, BigQuery, AWS, Azure) to extract and analyze insights.
  • Conduct data audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of large and complex datasets.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities for marketing, attribution, and segmentation solutions.
  • Lead technical projects end-to-end, including scoping, planning, execution, and delivery tracking.
  • Guide and support junior team members, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, including experimentation with generative AI, ML models, and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Present findings, solutions, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Requirements:

    • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
    • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and machine learning applications.
    • Experience working with big data platforms such as Google BigQuery and cloud environments (GCP preferred, also AWS or Azure).
    • Solid understanding of machine learning frameworks and applied statistical modeling techniques.
    • Experience designing or working with data pipelines, analytics systems, and scalable architectures.
    • Ability to interpret business needs and translate them into technical, data-driven solutions.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members in technical environments.
    • Familiarity with digital analytics concepts, web data, and basic JavaScript/HTML is a plus.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, client-facing environments.
    • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and delivery quality.
