You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, leveraging user insights to create industry-leading products.

As an Interaction Designer, you'll apply user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences from concept to execution, working with design partners to evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative products.

In this role, you will focus on enabling third-party effect creators to build new and exciting effects within YouTube's web-based Effect Maker tool. You will design, validate, and refine experiences with Effects in Shorts and Creation within the YouTube Main app. This position requires strong end-to-end user experience skills to manage user experience and bring effects directly into the YouTube app experience, such as the camera, effect picker, and swipe functionality. You will collaborate closely with adjacent Shorts and creation teams, and partner with product managers to unlock new opportunities such as monetization and custom branded effects.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $132000 - $190000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of interaction design experience in product design or UX design.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Experience designing tools for others to create with (web and mobile).
  • Experience creating effects for video platforms.
  • A strong foundation in design systems thinking.
