This role is focused on crafting immersive, documentary-style YouTube content that brings science, history, nature, and complex world topics to life through powerful visual storytelling. You will be responsible for transforming scripts, voiceovers, and creative direction into engaging long-form videos designed for strong audience retention. The work blends narrative editing, pacing precision, and the integration of diverse media such as stock footage, motion graphics, and pre-rendered 3D sequences. You will collaborate closely with directors to shape tone, structure, and emotional flow across each project. The environment is fast-paced, creative, and highly quality-driven, with a strong emphasis on storytelling impact and consistency. Accountabilities:
- Edit long-form, documentary-style YouTube videos with a strong focus on storytelling, pacing, and audience retention.
- Refine narrative flow through precise editing of voiceovers, cuts, pauses, and scene transitions.
- Integrate pre-rendered 3D sequences and motion design assets into cohesive visual storytelling.
- Source and incorporate high-quality stock footage when needed to enhance narrative clarity and engagement.
- Apply color correction and visual adjustments to ensure consistency across mixed media formats.
- Collaborate closely with directors to align on structure, tone, and creative direction.
- Perform basic sound design tasks such as audio cleanup, balancing, and mixing when required.
- Maintain consistent style, branding, and visual identity across all video content.
- Deliver high-quality edits within tight deadlines aligned with publishing schedules.
Requirements:
- Proven experience editing YouTube content, ideally long-form documentary or narrative-driven videos.
- Strong understanding of pacing, storytelling, and audience retention techniques.
- Ability to source, curate, and integrate stock footage effectively into narratives.
- Experience blending multiple media types (live footage, stock, 3D, motion graphics).
- Solid skills in color correction and maintaining visual consistency.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on storytelling clarity and quality.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with creative teams.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating relevant long-form or YouTube editing work.
- Motion graphics experience is a plus.
- Basic sound design or audio post-production experience is a bonus.
