Job Description:
Principal Engineer – Cabin Stress A220 in Kinston, NC
Duties: Support the development of aircraft cabin interior structures as a stress analyst. Perform analyses for metallic or composite cabin interior structures to ensure compliance to company requirements and regulatory standards. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength to weight ratio structures. Autonomously perform stress analysis of cabin or cargo components, by classical hand analysis as well as Finite Element methods, to support the structural design efforts of new and modified components from the conceptual phase to development and certification. Perform review of supplier stress substantiation reports to ensure compliance to aircraft design requirements and sign-off data. Coordinate with design engineers, suppliers and technical leads to assure that the design meets the project deliverables timeline with an optimum design solution. Set broad objectives with timelines and establish the tasks required and how they should be completed. Mentor less experienced structural analysts and provide leadership and guidance of a highly complex range of problems.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. 5 years' of related aeronautical experience in design with cabin and cargo and/or system installation projects with 3 years' project management experience. 5 years’ experience must include: (1) Finite Modeling of Structures using both Impkict and Explict Liner and Non-Linear techniques (Nastran, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Radioss; (2) technical principles of design, theories, and concepts; DESIGN documentation, techniques and procedures; (3) interpreting engineering drawings, technical procedures and bill of material systems to develop project plans; (4) Regulatory Requirements pertaining to aircraft design, certification and maintenance. Must live within a commutable distance to the assigned Airbus location to meet the 2 days per week work from office requirement. 5% Domestic and International travel required for team support/onsite activity purposes.
