Software Development Engineer, Sponsored Products and Brands

Amazon · New York, New York, USA

Ever wonder what happens in the milliseconds between a customer scrolling and seeing a relevant ad? The Sponsored Products Marketplace AdClicks team builds the infrastructure behind that moment — processing trillions of ads daily at a scale few teams in the industry ever touch.

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer to help design, develop, and own large-scale, highly available services that centrally process advertising signals (ad impressions, views, clicks, video unmutes, and more) across Amazon's performance advertising businesses — including Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Brands Video, and Sponsored Display.

Our systems join millions of ad events per second from diverse sources, orchestrate business-specific enrichments (robotic traffic detection, validation of chargeable events, geotagging, event cardinality), and vend ad event data to power real-time campaign optimizations, attribution, reporting, analytics, and billing. You'll build services handling billions of requests per day while maintaining millisecond-level latencies and meeting strict SLA requirements — all operating on one of the world's largest product catalogs and massive distributed datasets.

A successful candidate will see their work live on Amazon.com and across numerous partner websites, viewed by tens of millions of customers, driving quantifiable revenue impact.

Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own Tier-1 services that determine ad-serving eligibility across Performance Advertising Core Engine
- Set the technical vision for services spanning multiple Sponsored Ad programs (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display)
- Build global, auto-scalable, high-throughput services that work across all ad programs — from campaign management through event logging
- Collaborate with software engineers, Product Managers, and Program Managers to deliver compelling advertiser and customer experiences
- Advise senior leadership on technical opportunities and risks to ensure sustained, rapid feature delivery
- Lead and inspire teammates to raise the bar on software quality, reliability, and operational excellence
- Measure success through quality of execution, pace of innovation, and increased customer and advertiser satisfaction
