The Protection Monitoring Engineering Specialist is an experienced engineering professional responsible for supporting and sustaining protection monitoring hardware platforms throughout their lifecycle. This role ensures reliable product performance by addressing technical challenges, supporting production and field operations, and driving continuous improvements.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve issues, maintain product integrity, and enhance customer satisfaction through structured, data-driven approaches.
As a Protection Monitoring Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues impacting production, field performance, and customer satisfaction
Performing root cause analysis on hardware and system-level failures and implementing corrective actions
Supporting sustaining engineering activities, including product changes, compliance processes, and lifecycle management
Providing platform-level technical support by analyzing system performance and identifying reliability risks and improvement opportunities
Supporting field investigations, technical communications, and cross-functional issue resolution
Managing component lifecycle considerations such as obsolescence, supplier changes, and alternate component evaluation
Collaborating with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure effective, data-driven decision-making
Participating in design reviews, technical assessments, and product evaluations
Identifying recurring issues and driving continuous improvements in product design, sustaining processes, and engineering standards
Applying structured problem-solving methodologies to enhance product performance and operational continuity

To be successful in this role you will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Have 5–8+ years of relevant engineering experience in sustaining, design, or product support for hardware products
Demonstrate the ability to independently resolve complex technical issues affecting product performance, production, or field applications
Possess a strong foundation in analog and digital circuits with hands-on experience troubleshooting PCBAs and system-level hardware
Nice to have skills:
Have practical experience applying signal integrity, grounding principles, and hardware design fundamentals
Have experience executing sustaining engineering practices, including corrective actions, product changes, and compliance-driven workflows
Demonstrate experience managing component lifecycle risks such as obsolescence, supplier changes, and alternate component evaluation
Have experience supporting manufacturing environments, including NCR resolution, issue triage, and cross-functional collaboration
Possess working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and product validation principles
Be able to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and develop structured solutions to complex engineering problems
Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts and collaborate effectively across teams

The annual pay scale for this position is between $96,670.00 - $179,570.00.Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.
