About the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the ENGINE Operations team. Reporting to the Process Monitoring & Optimisation Lead, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
This role provides process monitoring and optimization support to Chevron's Specialty Operation’s assets and plays a pivotal role in understanding and evaluating plant performance. Engineers will work closely with Operations, Projects, Process Engineering, Control System Engineering and Maintenance to deliver work priorities, including proactive plant monitoring, optimization, engineering analysis and deliverables. Engineers will interface directly with Chevron assets to provide appropriate level of ownership and remote support.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key responsibilities
Apply process engineering and design principles to deliver high-quality and predictable designs for projects.
Revalidate relief loads calculations, controlling scenarios, and reassess existing overpressure protection systems to ensure adequacy with updated operating conditions, recent process modifications and PHA recommendations.
Develop, validate and maintain detailed process simulation models to evaluate designs and operating scenarios effectively.
Carry out hydraulic analyses, equipment sizing, line sizing, capacity checks etc. to analyze and validate existing installations and support new projects or modifications in accordance with the Management of Change (MOC) process.
Conduct feasibility, debottlenecking and revamp studies for existing process units and projects
Monitor process performance and product quality trends to ensure ongoing compliance with quality specifications and operational targets
Provide medium and long term monitoring of Chevron facilities and unit operations to identify operating performance opportunities including unit optimization, reliability threat identification, and integrity operating window (IOW) responses amongst other aspects.
Develop, maintain, and update process monitoring tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Provide input into process design criteria and optimize process technologies and equipment across multiple operating facilities.
Review and improve designs to enhance operability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
Provide analytical support for complex troubleshooting & investigation teams.
Coordinate and participate in HAZOP studies to manage process safety within the plant.
Develop process improvement proposals for project implementation and execution.

Required Qualifications
5-10 years of process engineering experience in multiple petroleum refinery processes or specialty chemicals technologies.
Must have a Chemical Engineering degree, or similar, from an appropriately certified university.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in process design teams
Knowledge of batch, semi-batch, continuous process units, as well as solids transport and solids filtration technology will be an added advantage.
Proficient in Pro II and/or Aspen Hysys modeling software.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and across functional groups.
Knowledge in Process Design and Engineering.
Familiarity with ASME & API codes & standards. Knowledge of PHA/HAZOP/LOPA, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and engineering tools.
