Senior Software Engineer, Pixel Camera App, Performance

Google Camera is Pixel’s built-in camera app that brings the Google’s imaging and vision technology to the next generation of consumer hardware. We collaborate closely with multiple teams across many product areas, and provide a platform to ship their latest technologies.
In this role, you will collaborate with Camera pipeline and algorithm teams across both Pixel Camera app and underlying subsystems in order to ensure the performance and reliability of the entire Camera experience in both lab and field environments. You will use data to guide development teams in prioritizing the opportunities for improvement. You will identify anti-patterns and share best practices to maximize impact. You will contribute towards a Pixel Camera product worthy of industry and user accolades.The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (Java).
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3 years of experience shipping complex embedded software products.
- Experience with performance and memory optimization.
- Experience with TPU, GPU, and on-device ML models.
- Experience with SQL and data pipelines.
- Experience developing Linux systems, android systems, or embedded systems.
