Job Purpose
- The System Requirements Coordination Lead is a key contributor supporting Honda’s Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) initiatives and digital product portfolio development. The role collaborates under the direction of the Digital Product LPL to deliver system requirements documentation to functional software development groups. Serving as the primary translation point between product planning, system design, and software development, this position ensures requirements are clearly defined, aligned, and traceable across the development lifecycle.
- The System Requirements Coordination Lead acts as the cross functional process owner for defining digital product system requirements and domain definitions, and for validating system level outputs prior to market deployment through OTA updates or at vehicle launch. The role is also responsible for supporting system verification and validation activities to confirm delivered functionality meets intended product requirements. This position will oversee in-vehicle requirements related to cross-domain electrical architecture, as well as app development and the implementation of agile processes.
- This individual may also serve as the Digital Product Team Assistant Large Product Leader.
Key Accountabilities
System Requirements Engineering:
- Own the development, structure, interaction, and maintenance of system level requirements for SDV (software-defined vehicle) digital products across multiple domains and systems (infotainment,
- AD/ADAS, digital services, etc.), as correlated with Digital Product LPL (Large product leader) and SDV strategy leadership.
- Translate user, product owner, and stakeholder inputs into clear, complete, and traceable system requirements documentation that enable downstream function group development.
- Define system scope, assumptions, constraints, and high level interactions across domains.
Cross-Functional Correlation & Alignment:
- Serve as the primary system level coordination point between team leadership/strategy/product planning, system design, and software development teams.
- Lead requirement correlation discussions to resolve ambiguity, conflicts, or gaps prior to development execution.
- Ensure shared understanding of product intent, terminology, and system expectations across organizations.
- Responsible for coordinating the system architecture design is complete and facilitating documentation with subject matter experts in each function area.
- For products that require Japan office support, provide additional leadership in correlating above items with our global office members.
Process Ownership & Governance:
- Act as Process Owner for digital product system requirements, including domain definition, documentation standards, and requirement quality governance.
- Establish and maintain consistent system level requirement workflows that support SDV development, OTA readiness, and vehicle launch timing.
- Drive continuous improvement of requirement processes, clarity, and efficiency.
System Verification, Validation, & Qualification:
- Validate system level outputs against original product intent prior to market deployment, including OTA and at launch implementations.
- Ensure system requirements support downstream verification through clear acceptance criteria, testability, and traceability.
- Identify system level risks related to requirement gaps or misalignment and drive mitigation actions in collaboration with stakeholders.
Product Release Support:
- Support digital product release activities by ensuring system requirements are complete, aligned, and validated for release readiness.
- Coordinate with function groups to confirm system‑level intent is achieved in delivered software and that required documentation supports release and post‑launch activities.
- Ensure products with system validation are advanced to OTA (Over-The-Air) backlog, if necessary.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field of study.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in vehicle software application or digital application development
- Ability to translate product and user requirements into clear technical requirements, system interactions, and architectural intent for engineering teams
- Experience defining system architectures, interfaces, and requirement allocation across distributed domains
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with emphasis on high‑quality, consistent, and traceable system and software requirements
- Proven effectiveness collaborating across cross‑functional teams (software, hardware, validation) with minimal supervision
- Experience in automotive systems engineering, including Automotive SPICE (ASPICE), system requirements documentation, and requirements/architecture tools
Working Conditions
- This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be allowed based on departmental approval.
- Travel as required (domestic and international) ~ 10% annually.
- Extended hours during key milestones, evaluations, and issue resolution periods
