Solution Architecture Manager

Overview

Microsoft Industry Solutions Delivery (ISD) is a global organization of over 6,000 architects, consultants, engineers, data scientists, and delivery specialists helping Microsoft’s most strategic customers accelerate their digital and AI transformation journeys.

 

Within Greater China Region (GCR), we partner with enterprise customers to design and deliver large-scale transformation programs across Cloud, Data, AI, Security, and Forward Deployed Engineering. Our teams combine deep technical expertise, industry knowledge, and delivery excellence to help customers modernize platforms, drive innovation, and realize business value with Microsoft technologies.

 

As a Solution Architect Manager, you will lead a team of Solution Architects responsible for shaping customer solution strategy, driving consultative customer engagement, and ensuring successful architecture and delivery outcomes across strategic engagements. You will work closely with customer executives, account teams, engineering teams, and delivery leaders to drive business impact, technical excellence, and customer success.



Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Consultative Selling Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Solution Architects supporting strategic enterprise customers across GCR.
  • Drive consultative, industry-led customer engagements focused on business value, digital transformation, AI adoption, and modernization initiatives.
  • Partner with customer C-level executives, business stakeholders, and enterprise architects to align technology solutions to business priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Shape solution strategy and architecture across Cloud, Data, AI, Forward Deployed Engineers.
  • Partner with sales and account teams to influence strategic opportunities, support solution pursuits, and articulate differentiated Microsoft value propositions.
  • Lead architecture governance, technical quality, and solution alignment across customer engagements and delivery programs.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies, AI transformation, and industry trends.

 

Delivery Leadership

  • Provide technical and delivery leadership across complex enterprise transformation programs.
  • Ensure successful sales-to-delivery handoff and alignment between customer objectives, architecture, and execution.
  • Support teams in resolving complex technical challenges, managing escalations, and mitigating delivery risks.
  • Drive operational rigor, governance, and adherence to Microsoft delivery, security, and compliance standards.
  • Engage with customer stakeholders through governance forums, executive reviews, and escalation management processes.

 

People Management & Capability Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop Solution Architects to strengthen technical depth, consultative selling capability, and customer engagement skills.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Support workforce planning, capability development, and readiness initiatives aligned to business priorities.
  • Encourage the reuse and creation of delivery IP, accelerators, reference architectures, and best practices.
  • Drive technical readiness, certifications, and industry expertise across the team.

 

Business & Practice Development

  • Contribute to the growth of the GCR ISD practice through innovation, capability building, and development of differentiated offerings.
  • Collaborate across Microsoft teams, partners, and global stakeholders to drive consistency, scale, and delivery excellence.
  • Provide customer and market insights to help shape future solution investments and go-to-market priorities.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Drive high standards of execution, customer satisfaction, utilization, and delivery quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Microsoft operational, financial, and security processes and standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence across the organization.

 

 



Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security) OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security) OR equivalent experience.
 
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security) OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security) OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise solution architecture, consulting, or large-scale technology delivery.
  • 5+ years of customer-facing experience leading complex digital transformation engagements.
  • 3+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions across Cloud, Data, AI
  • Strong consultative selling, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
  • Experience engaging senior business and technical decision-makers in enterprise environments.
