SLR APAC is seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing national and global Geotechnical Engineering team, based out of our modern riverside Perth office. At SLR, we operate with our global engineering team (120+ engineers over 6 continents) to support one another across borders, bringing the highest level of experience and technical capabilities to our clients. 

We service some of Australia’s largest mining clients and deliver a diverse and unique project portfolio spanning mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors. Our work ranges from targeted studies and smaller-scale projects for specific operations through to multi-million-dollar, multi-disciplinary projects supporting both national and international clients.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Technical project delivery: Work on a board range of Geotechnical Engineering projects at a technical advisory level across the full project lifecycle.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Geotechnical expertise: At least 8-12 years of specialised experience in geotechnical consulting, with relevant tertiary qualifications considered advantageous.

  • Project leadership: Proven ability to lead projects from concept through to design and implementation and provide clear technical direction to clients.

  • Technical analysis and investigations: Experience planning and delivering geotechnical site investigations, including interpretation of field and laboratory testing, and slope stability assessments.

  • Design tools and technical capability: Proficiency in geotechnical design software such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS or Muk3D.

  • Communication and documentation: Strong report writing and communication skills, with experience preparing fee proposals, engineering reports, design specifications and drawings.

  • Leadership and problem solving: Well-developed project management, mentoring and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
