Senior/Staff Smart Contract Engineer

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior/Staff Smart Contract Engineer based in the United States.

This role sits at the core of a rapidly evolving on-chain financial infrastructure stack, where you will design and build the smart contract systems that power collateral markets, DeFi primitives, and next-generation financial products. You will work across mature production-grade protocols as well as greenfield systems, contributing directly to how capital is secured, coordinated, and made productive onchain. The environment is highly technical and security-focused, requiring strong ownership over correctness, efficiency, and robustness at scale. You will design foundational primitives such as vaults, lending mechanisms, staking systems, and extensible protocol modules used by institutional-grade participants. A significant part of your work will involve extending and hardening existing systems while also architecting entirely new financial building blocks. You will collaborate closely with protocol engineers, security reviewers, and product-minded builders in a fast-paced, high-trust environment. This is a hands-on role for engineers who want to shape the foundational layer of on-chain finance.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize secure smart contracts in Solidity with a focus on performance, clarity, and production reliability
  • Build core DeFi primitives such as vaults, staking systems, lending mechanisms, and other protocol-level financial components
  • Extend and maintain existing production smart contract systems, including core contracts, extensions, and middleware SDKs
  • Develop adapters, connectors, and plugin modules for protocol integrations and cross-system interoperability
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of new greenfield on-chain financial products
  • Conduct security reviews, support audits, and proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and attack vectors
  • Strengthen protocol robustness through gas optimization, contract hardening, and careful design of failure modes
  • Build supporting tools when needed (e.g., lightweight frontends, indexers, or internal utilities) to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on protocol design, upgrades, and system evolution
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with significant focus on smart contract development
    • Expert-level proficiency in Solidity and strong understanding of EVM internals, including execution, storage, memory, and gas mechanics
    • Deep knowledge of DeFi systems such as lending protocols, DEXs, staking mechanisms, and stablecoin architectures
    • Strong security mindset with hands-on experience identifying vulnerabilities and participating in audit processes
    • Proven ability to design, build, and ship production-grade smart contracts in high-stakes environments
    • Solid computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and low-level system execution reasoning
    • Comfort working across the stack when needed, including backend tools, scripting, or lightweight application layers
    • Strong experience with smart contract optimization and protocol-level design tradeoffs
    • Exposure to adjacent languages or ecosystems such as Rust, Go, TypeScript, or Python is a plus
    • Familiarity with alternative EVM languages or tooling (Yul, Vyper, Huff) is a plus
    • Deep specialization in at least one protocol domain is highly valued
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation with base salary aligned to seniority and market benchmarks
      • Equity participation in a high-growth on-chain infrastructure company
      • Remote-friendly work environment with high autonomy and flexibility
      • Opportunity to work on production-grade DeFi systems used by major ecosystem participants
      • Exposure to cutting-edge financial primitives shaping institutional adoption of blockchain systems
      • Strong emphasis on engineering excellence, security, and technical craftsmanship
      • Collaborative, high-trust team culture composed of experienced builders from leading tech and financial institutions
      • Opportunities to contribute to both open-source infrastructure and production financial products.
