About IFM
The Institute of Foundation Models (IFM) is the research and engineering arm of MBZUAI — Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the world’s first AI-focused graduate university. IFM builds frontier foundation models, including the K2 language model family and PAN (our world model). We are a fast-moving team of 50+ in Silicon Valley and growing rapidly.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically sharp Developer Community Intern to help build IFM’s presence across U.S. universities, developer platforms, and online communities. You’ll work directly with our US Comms Lead to execute our H2 2026 event pipeline, grow our developer communities, and create educational content that puts IFM’s model family in the hands of builders and researchers.
This role is as much execution as strategy — you will get your hands dirty across events, content, and community management. If you thrive in a startup environment, are comfortable working across functions, and care deeply about the AI developer ecosystem, this is for you.
Event Pipeline (H2 2026)
Help plan and execute IFM’s H2 2026 campus event pipeline — university hackathons, tech talks, and meetups
Coordinate logistics across teams for each event
Developer Content & Tutorials
Build developer-friendly tutorials, cookbooks, and educational content showcasing IFM’s model family — K2 Think V2 (LLM reasoning) and PAN (world model)
Publish content on high-reach platforms: freeCodeCamp, DataCamp, and similar developer education sites
Produce short-form video tutorials and event recap videos for social distribution
Assist in designing curriculum for future IFM developer courses and workshops
Community & Social Media
Help promote engagement for MBZUAI × IFM developer communities across WhatsApp, Discord, LinkedIn, and X
Support the development of an IFM university ambassador program across top U.S. campuses
Track engagement metrics and surface insights to inform community strategy
Required
Proficiency in Python — comfortable with APIs, scripting, and building small demo applications
Video editing skills — able to produce polished tutorial and recap videos independently
Strong written communication — you can explain technical concepts clearly to a developer audience
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of ownership
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a BS/MS/PhD program in CS, AI, ML, or a related field
Nice to Have
Familiarity with LLM APIs and prompting
Prior experience with developer communities, open-source projects, or technical content creation
Experience publishing courses or tutorials on freeCodeCamp, DataCamp, Udemy, or similar platforms
Knowledge of distributed ML systems, inference, or model deployment
Active presence in AI/ML communities on X, Hacker News, or GitHub
