Network Engineer, Google Enterprise Network

Google is proud to boast a network that provides service to millions of Internet users around the world. The Network Engineering team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. Google's complex network generates a constant stream of challenges which require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of technologies. Keeping the network reliable ensures that our users stay connected with our suite of applications, products and services. Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $150000 - $218000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  
• Experience with network technologies or protocols, including VXLAN, BGP EVPN, 802.1x, LACP, encryption, key management, micro-segmentation, or ACLs.

Preferred qualifications:

• Expert level certifications or equivalent level experience (e.g., CCIE/CCDE/JNCIE).
• Experience with working in a multi-vendor environment.
• Proven experience with large enterprise Office network design and operations in a global environment.
• Expert in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Intermediate to Expert level knowledge with Linux.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
