Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal DevOps Engineer – Level 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the industry. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO.  Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.

Position Overview:

As a DevOps Engineer – Level 2 you will work in a collaborative environment to understand system requirements and create and implement DevOps solutions using tools like Jenkins, Kubernetes, SonarQube, Gherkin, Cucumber, Docker, and others to enable quick and efficient software development and delivery.

Essential Functions:

  

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Automate infrastructure deployment, scaling, and management
  • Monitor system performance and ensure reliability and availability
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment processes
  • Implement and manage containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ensure security best practices and compliance requirements are met
  • Maintain and enhance configuration management tools
  • RHEL 9 with Ansible
  • VMware installation and configuration

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Experience with automated testing and software development pipelines/factories
  • Experience deploying applications in a containerized environment
  • Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, Code Quality, Static Analysis, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, and Jenkins.
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience 
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Highly experienced with Linux, ansible, scripting, and operations 
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis 
  • Experience with battle management and/or fire control systems
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) using tools like Gherkin and Cucumber for automated acceptance testing
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics or Computer Science

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
