Senior DevOps Engineer - Global Identity Platform

Jobgether · Germany

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer – Global Identity Platform based in Germany.

In this role, you will help shape and evolve a large-scale identity and access management platform that supports critical services used by hundreds of thousands of employees and millions of end users in a highly regulated enterprise environment. You will operate at the intersection of platform engineering, security, and cloud architecture, taking ownership of Kubernetes-based infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you will define architectural direction while also driving implementation in production systems. You will collaborate closely with security teams, architects, and senior stakeholders to ensure resilience, compliance, and scalability. The environment is fast-paced, distributed, and deeply engineering-driven, with strong expectations around autonomy and accountability. Your work will directly influence the reliability, security, and future evolution of a mission-critical global identity platform.

Accountabilities:

You will take full ownership of the Kubernetes-based platform and its continuous evolution, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and resilient across environments. You will define and document architectural decisions while actively contributing to hands-on implementation and platform improvements.

  • Drive end-to-end ownership of a GKE-based platform, including cluster design, workload patterns, and multi-region resilience strategies
  • Define and maintain platform architecture standards, documenting decisions through ADRs and aligning with enterprise stakeholders
  • Build and maintain CI/CD and GitOps workflows using tools such as ArgoCD/Flux, Helm, and Git-based pipelines
  • Design and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to ensure scalable and reproducible cloud environments
  • Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic
  • Ensure secure identity and access integration using OIDC, SAML, mTLS, and related IAM frameworks in collaboration with identity engineering teams
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and security standards including Zero Trust, audit readiness, BaFin, and DORA requirements
  • Collaborate with architects, security officers, and senior leadership to align platform strategy and technical direction
  • Requirements:

You bring strong experience in cloud-native platform engineering and a deep understanding of Kubernetes and DevOps practices in enterprise environments. You are comfortable working in regulated contexts where security, compliance, and reliability are core design principles.

    • Several years of experience operating Kubernetes in production, ideally on Google Cloud Platform or other hyperscalers
    • Strong expertise with DevOps toolchains including Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD/Flux, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions
    • Solid understanding of cloud-native principles such as declarative infrastructure, immutable systems, and automation-first design
    • Experience with observability and security tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Vault, or cloud-native secret management solutions
    • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts such as OIDC, SAML, mTLS, or Workload Identity
    • Experience working in regulated or enterprise-scale environments with compliance and audit requirements
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both engineering and executive stakeholders
    • Fluent English required; German is a plus
    • Benefits:

      • 100% remote work within Germany with flexible working arrangements
      • Trust-based working hours without fixed core time or mandatory office presence
      • Modern equipment and tooling provided for home and collaboration needs
      • 30 days of vacation for work-life balance and recovery
      • Mobility support to facilitate occasional team meetings
      • Access to sports, wellness, and fitness programs (e.g., Urban Sports Club, EGYM Wellpass, yoga, running initiatives)
      • Strong culture of autonomy, influence, and participation in shaping initiatives
      • Inclusive and collaborative environment focused on engineering excellence and continuous improvement
