To ensure that the Manufacturing Unit is maintained in accordance with agreed maintenance standards resulting in improved plant efficiency and availability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Asset Management:

  • Develop and deploy the asset management strategy

  • Conduct plant, equipment inspections and audits providing reports on findings

  • Ensure facility plans are updated, available and adhered to.

  • Ensure modifications are completed in-accordance set specifications

  • Maintain records of all modifications

  • Life cycle costing and analysis of unit assets to determine replacement

  • Ensure that all services are provided as appropriate (plant utilities)

  • Do a weekly , monthly Loss Tree (Pareto Analysis) to determine repetitive jobs / breakdowns on machines and equipment and derive action plans to address such

  • Drive the  comprehensive RCA on a quarterly basis

Financial Management:

  • Compile annual unit maintenance budget from zero base.

  • Manage appropriate system in place for day to day monitoring of expenditure.

  • Identify reputable suppliers for the supply of spares.

  • Control of critical spares

  • Application of stores control as per company requirements.

  • Implementation and Management of Store and Procurement Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Manage stock control and report on variances

  • Manage overtime and call outs

Corporate Governance:

  • Tenders, comparative quotations, Requests for Resolution, Third Party Service Provider contracts.

  • Work within a set of systems, principles and processes by which the company is governed.

  • Assess tenders and decide on suppliers/service providers to be utilised, ensuring that costs are within budget availability.

Safety, Health & Environmental:

  • Implement and maintain all  Risk requirements as per the OHAS Act 85/1993, Tiger Milling internal System and Insurer requirements

  • Ensure that all statutory inspections are adhered to

  • Urgently address and close out all findings as per the insurers ASIB report

  • Scaffolding, ladders, stairways and ramps are on register, checked 3 monthly and signed off.

  • Earth leakage tests are done 3 monthly and electrical installation is in good condition numbered, traceable and Certificate of electrical Compliance are on file. Portable electrical equipment is recorded on register, inspected 3 monthly and signed off by Site Engineer.

  • Transformers serviced annually and all findings addressed without delay.

  • Minimise waste

  • Conduct audits and implement corrective action plan.

  • Chairs Safety committee meetings

  • Marsh Alexander Forbes Risk and Environmental Compliance.

  • Initiate programs to continuously reduce Disabling Injury Frequency Rates.

  • Effective PPE used according to standard procedures

  • Health and safety practices performed according to standards and procedures

  • Compliance with business specific legislation (Occupation al Health and Safety Act and HAZLOC)

  • Ensure compliance with general machinery regulations as per OHAS Act 85/1993

  • Conduct monthly machine safety inspections

Staff Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Identifies people potential

  • Appointment of candidates with the prerequisite capabilities, qualifications, experience and potential.

  • Implementation of Workplace Improvement (MCEP) and Operational Improvement Management discussions initiatives.

  • Staff are developed to effectively deal with latest technology, legislation, systems and work practices

  • Maintains channels of communication between (discipline) function and other function

  • Maintains close liaison with other disciplines at operations to ensure integrated decision making

  • Encourages the sharing knowledge and ideas amongst own and other team

Training and Needs analyses:

  • Succession plan

  • Personal Development Plans

  • Career and Skills development plans

  • Employment Equity Plan

  • Compile short and long term training needs analysis matrix.

  • Conduct training gaps analysis.

  • Select reputable training providers

Business Operational:

  • Major Maintenance and Capital applications

  • Successful motivation and implementation of projects within budgetary requirements

  • Identify needs as per facilities plans

  • Write and compile detailed motivation for submission to business for approval.

  • Project management – cost, quality, timing and commissioning of projects

  • Provide monthly progress report on Projects (this must include the tracking document/indicator for any project on hand)

  • Assist in compilation of post installation review.

  • Requests for Price, Tender reviews, Deviations

  • Outsourcing of maintenance tasks

  • Determine and authorise which maintenance and tasks are to be outsourced

  • Plan and Schedule minor / major Plant Shutdown in consultation with all relevant departments.

  • Investigate and select service providers

  • Negotiate and manage maintenance

  • Provide progress reports to Plant Manager and other interested parties

  • Monitor quality of work carried out by maintenance staff

  • Maintaining of Planned Maintenance System (DSM)

  • Improving the planning, scheduling and monitoring of resources

  • Design, configuration and installation of associated hardware to provide continuous improvement  of asset performance 

  • Circulate Monthly and weekly maintenance plan

  • Provide weekly feedback on executed maintenance

  • Influence the aligning of the PM and Production planning

  • Quarterly or Half yearly review all the maintenance schedules and determine their relevance through consultation with OEM and engineering team

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • B Eng (electrical, mechanical. civil)

  • Government Certificate of Competency - Factories

  • Professional Certificated Engineer or Professional Engineer

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar environment with at least 2 years' experience as a GCC Factory Engineer
