Telework: Partial telework optional after completion of probation and upon management approval. Telework must be preformed in the state of Maine.

JOB DESCRITPTION:
This is professional services work in the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Office of the State Controller that focuses on querying/analyzing data, preparing financial statements and compiling the State’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the Federal Uniform Guidance. Primary responsibilities include: querying, compiling and analyzing significant data; preparing accurate financial information, including required and extensive notes; making accounting adjustments, appropriately categorizing and summarizing them; and, designing, implementing and overseeing statewide accounting policies and procedures, and year-end closing procedures. Additional responsibilities include acting as a liaison to provide leadership and expert technical guidance to chief financial officers at State agencies and Component Units on accounting policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify, your background must include successful completion of all sections of the CPA exam or CIA exam and four years’ experience preparing and/or auditing complex financial statements.
Preference will be given to candidates who have passed all parts of the CPA exam. The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:
