The Senior Credit Analyst is a member of the 2nd Line of Defence Credit Risk Management function, reporting to the Head of Credit Portfolio Risk. The role centres on strategic duties, combining credit governance expertise and support to credit‑risk decisioning processes as well as focalized MI & Reporting responsibilities.
This role supports integration across the Credit Portfolio Risk workstreams through the oversight of credit governance structures, support of credit analysis and financial due diligence processes, and the provision of consistent, high‑quality, risk‑aligned management information to support informed decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis and Financial Due Diligence
Support credit approvers through detailed credit analysis, financial due diligence, and review of credit proposals, helping to inform sound credit decisions in line with established risk appetite, underwriting standards, concentration limits, and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to strong decision-making practices by participating in calibration sessions and monitoring approval trends under the guidance of senior management.
Credit Risk Governance
Support the effective operation of USBE Credit Risk governance bodies through end-to-end coordination of the Credit Committee and related working groups. The role holder will manage the administrative and governance activities required for these forums, including compiling and quality-checking materials from multiple stakeholders, coordinating meeting agendas and schedules, maintaining action logs and records, and ensuring papers are complete, accurate, and circulated on a timely basis.
This role will also support the Head of Credit Portfolio Risk to monitor adherence to the terms of reference and governance requirements for each forum, escalating issues where needed, and helping to ensure the overall efficiency, consistency, and proper functioning of these bodies.
Strategy & Portfolio Steering
Support the development and refinement of the bank’s credit portfolio strategy and risk appetite, ensuring alignment with evolving macroeconomic, regulatory, sectoral, and geopolitical trends.
This position serves as a subject matter expert, facilitating communication and alignment between strategic MI, governance structures, and the credit decision-making process.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Credit Risk team members and colleagues from other departments to uphold consistency and strong governance across credit-related reports, strategies, provisioning, and risk frameworks.
Preferred Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Experience (4+ years) in credit risk within a financial institution.
Understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
Effective written, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to articulate key messages in a concise manner.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data/trends and draw actionable insights.
Sound understanding of credit risk, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g. Basel, CRR, EBA).
Familiarity with financial analysis.
Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, ACA/ACCA or similar are desirable.
Additional information
The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
