ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will be at the intersection of reinsurance accounting, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of complex financial transactions while building the relationships that keep our programs running smoothly.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically minded professional who is early in their finance or accounting career and eager to develop deep expertise in specialty insurance. You will work with both internal account underwriters and external partners, playing a key role in maintaining compliance with reinsurance contract terms and supporting the growth of ASCS programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate, record, reconcile, and settle reinsurance premium and loss activity in accordance with contractual terms and internal accounting standards.
- Reconcile complex reinsurance-related activity; identify and investigate discrepancies, coordinate resolution, and implement corrective actions as directed.
- Prepare and analyze internal and external financial and premium bordereau reports in accordance with regulatory and departmental guidelines.
- Build strong working relationships with internal account underwriters and external customers, delivering timely and accurate service.
- Collaborate with IT, developers, and compliance teams in the testing and development of internal systems, reporting tools, and SQL databases.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, or a related analytical role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external audiences.
- Experience with reporting or data analysis tools (Power BI, SQL, Tableau, etc.) is a plus.
- Insurance industry knowledge or internship experience is preferred but not required.

Your clients include anyone seeking accounting, reporting, audit, or financial compliance support related to ASCS programs - both inside and outside the organization.
Internal Customers:
Respond promptly and accurately to accounting, billing, systems, and audit-related inquiries. Your work directly supports underwriters in building strong external relationships - and by extension, drives revenue growth for ASCS.
External Customers:
Process and respond to ad-hoc and targeted bordereau reporting and financial statement requests. Your accuracy and timeliness ensure ASCS maintains compliance with reinsurance contracts and program structures, protecting the partnerships that underpin our business.

Pursuant to Illinois regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
