Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack (ACF) based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of fullstack engineering and applied AI, focused on building mission-critical digital services that directly support young adults transitioning out of foster care. You will help design and ship a next-generation public-facing platform that combines modern web experiences with LLM-powered assistance and curated knowledge systems. The work is highly impactful, shaping how thousands of users access essential resources at a pivotal moment in their lives. You will collaborate in a cross-functional environment with product, design, research, and engineering peers to deliver end-to-end solutions. The role emphasizes both technical depth in AI systems and strong product intuition. It is a fast-moving, zero-to-one initiative operating at national scale within a regulated, high-trust environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and build end-to-end fullstack features, including frontend interfaces, backend services, and APIs supporting a large-scale public digital platform.
  • Engineer and optimize LLM-powered capabilities such as RAG pipelines, semantic search, prompt design, embeddings, and agent-based workflows to ensure accurate and safe outputs.
  • Develop accessible, secure, and Section 508–compliant user interfaces and systems that meet federal standards and serve diverse user needs.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and improve the reliability, safety, and quality of AI-driven interactions to ensure trustworthy user experiences.
  • Build and maintain secure, compliant software systems aligned with federal security requirements and best practices in vulnerability prevention.
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional environment with product managers, designers, researchers, and engineers to deliver iterative, user-centered solutions.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to engineering excellence through best practices in testing, CI/CD, system design, and scalable architecture.
  • Requirements:

    • Strong experience designing and implementing RAG-based LLM systems, including semantic search and knowledge-grounded generation.
    • Proven ability to design and optimize multi-step LLM/agent workflows for data retrieval, refinement, and synthesis.
    • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, embedding models, and improving LLM response quality and reliability.
    • Strong fullstack engineering skills with the ability to write clean, reusable, and well-tested code across frontend and backend systems.
    • Solid understanding of system design, data modeling, and distributed systems with attention to performance, scalability, and reliability.
    • Experience working in cross-functional, iterative product teams with a strong user-centered engineering mindset.
    • Familiarity with secure software development practices and awareness of compliance and vulnerability mitigation techniques.
    • Bonus: experience with Python, FastAPI, LangChain, Postgres with pgvector, Next.js, and modern cloud/AI infrastructure tools.
    • Bonus: experience in regulated, public-sector, or high-trust environments with strong operational constraints.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with seniority and market benchmarks for Staff-level engineering roles.
      • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
      • Retirement benefits including a 401(k) with employer match up to 10% and no vesting period.
      • Generous flexible PTO policy (around 25 days annually) plus 11 federal holidays.
      • Paid parental leave of up to 12 weeks for birth, adoption, or foster care.
      • Annual professional development and tech stipends to support growth and tooling.
      • Performance-based rewards including bonuses, salary increases, and equity opportunities.
      • Fully remote work environment with flexibility and strong support for work-life balance.
      • Additional perks including wellness funds, referral bonuses, and charitable donation matching.
