Senior Engineer, Full Stack

This role sits at the intersection of full-stack engineering, system design, and mission-driven public health technology, focused on modernizing critical healthcare systems used by federal agencies. You will contribute to the development and evolution of large-scale applications that support quality improvement programs impacting Medicare beneficiaries nationwide. The environment blends product thinking, service design, and modern engineering practices to reduce complexity and improve healthcare delivery outcomes. You will work across the stack, influencing architecture, introducing new technologies, and building scalable, reliable systems. The role also emphasizes technical leadership, mentoring, and active participation in shaping team processes and engineering standards. Accountabilities
- Own the design, development, maintenance, and operational performance of full-stack applications supporting large-scale federal healthcare systems.
- Build and enhance applications using Python on the backend and React (or Angular) with TypeScript on the frontend.
- Research and introduce new technologies, including AI-driven solutions, through proofs of concept and system modernization initiatives.
- Lead technical design decisions and contribute to architecture across one or more products or services.
- Mentor and guide engineers, supporting their growth and encouraging technical ownership and collaboration.
- Enforce and improve engineering processes, ensuring alignment across the team while balancing tradeoffs effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with healthcare service design and user needs.
- Support continuous improvement of systems supporting CMS Quality Management and Review programs.
- 7+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering or similar roles in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and React or Angular with TypeScript for frontend development.
- Experience working across system architecture, API design, and scalable application development.
- Exposure to AI technologies and integrating or experimenting with AI-driven capabilities is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and practices such as GitHub, Jenkins, and Terraform (preferred).
- Experience working in cloud or distributed system environments with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- Strong leadership abilities with prior experience mentoring or guiding engineering teams.
- Ability to thrive in a mission-driven, collaborative, and remote-first environment.
- U.S. citizenship or Green Card required, with eligibility for Public Trust clearance and required background checks.
- Must have resided in the U.S. for at least the past 3 years.
- Competitive salary range: $128,700 – $153,400 annually.
