Job Description
Summary:
This technical leadership role is responsible for driving hardware sustaining excellence and transformation initiatives across the Pharmacy Automation portfolio, with a strong focus on customer experience improvement, product reliability, and systemic issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
Sustaining Excellence & RCA Leadership
Drive data-driven prioritization of sustaining and transformation initiatives, ensuring focus on highest-value opportunities
Closely monitor product field performance and lead deep root cause analysis (RCA) on systemic failures
Drive design for reliability improvements that meet or exceed current product performance
Lead strategic initiatives to improve customer satisfaction, product reliability, and total cost of ownership
Translate field issues, complaint data, and service insights into actionable engineering programs
Partner with Service, Quality, and Operations to implement closed-loop corrective actions
Enable transition from reactive fixes to predictive and preventative solutions
Program & Technical Leadership
Lead cross-functional teams to define and execute hardware improvement programs spanning multiple product lines
Work with R&D functional leaders to assign engineering disciplines necessary to achieve sustaining and value engineering goals.
Develop and manage integrated program plans, ensuring high-quality and efficient execution
Clearly articulate technical problems, solution strategies, and path to measurable business impact
Rapidly prototype and validate solutions where needed to reduce risk and accelerate learning
System & Architecture Thinking
Partner with development teams to define sustainable product improvements and architectural enhancements
Ensure solutions align with longer-term platform strategies and technology roadmaps
Assess proposed changes for risk, scalability, and cross-product applicability
Engineering & Process Rigor
Apply best practices across design, analysis, simulation, integration, and testing
Ensure compliance with Design Controls, PLM, Configuration Management, and Phase Review processes
Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and other structured problem-solving tools
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate across R&D, Quality, Service, Operations, and Product Management
Align initiatives with organizational goals and communicate program status, risks, and outcomes
Influence without authority in a matrixed, global environment
People & Culture
Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering teams (direct or indirect)
Foster a data-driven, ownership-oriented culture focused on accountability and results
Clearly communicate goals, expectations, and performance feedback
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering or related field
10+ years leading complex electro-mechanical systems in R&D or sustaining environments
Strong experience with RCA, reliability engineering, and field performance analysis
Experience with automated equipment systems (robotics, conveyance, controls) preferred
Deep understanding of product lifecycle, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs in matrixed organizations
Strong analytical, prioritization, and decision-making skills
Experience with program/project management methodologies (Agile and/or waterfall)
Excellent communication skills with ability to drive clarity in ambiguous situations
