Sr. Structural Design Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Structural Design Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits at the center of advanced aerospace engineering programs, focusing on the design and development of aircraft structural systems from concept through production release. You will work on active Special Missions aircraft programs where your designs directly transition into real-world applications. The environment is highly technical, collaborative, and fast-paced, requiring strong autonomy and ownership of complex design packages. You will use Siemens NX to develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings aligned with airworthiness standards. This position offers direct visibility into how engineering decisions impact aircraft performance, integration, and certification. It is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives in hands-on design work with minimal oversight and high accountability.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and development of aircraft structural systems and components using Siemens NX from concept through production release, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and program requirements.
- Create and manage 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings while ensuring alignment with weight, balance, and structural performance objectives.
- Perform weight and balance analyses to support design decisions and system integration.
- Select appropriate materials and components based on structural, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Design metallic and composite structures including tanks, mounts, and integrated aircraft systems.
- Coordinate with stress, certification, systems, and lead engineering teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Manage configuration control and release processes using PLM tools such as Teamcenter or equivalent systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, design packages, and presentations for internal and client reviews.
- Support cross-functional engineering activities to ensure program milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in structural design within aerospace or aircraft programs.
- Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX with strong expertise in 3D modeling and assembly design.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and aerospace engineering drawing standards.
- Proven ability to design aircraft structural systems or installations from concept to release.
- Experience working with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to work independently and manage complete design packages with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes aircraft fluid systems, tanks, containment structures, or composite structural design.
- Exposure to weight and balance analysis, Special Missions or military aircraft programs, and familiarity with FAA or EASA certification processes is highly desirable.
- Salary range of 105,000 to 135,000 USD annually
- 100 percent employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage
- SIMPLE IRA retirement plan
- Paid vacation, PTO, and 8 paid holidays
- Flexible onsite or remote work within the United States
- Exposure to advanced aerospace programs with real aircraft implementation
- Strong autonomy with ownership of full design packages
- Opportunity to work on diverse aircraft platforms and international engineering programs
