Patient Transport Assistant
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Patient Transport Assistant to support safe and timely patient movement throughout the hospital. This role helps patients get to and from patient rooms, treatment areas, testing locations, and other areas as needed.
The Patient Transport Assistant transports patients by wheelchair, bed, or stretcher and performs identified non-clinical tasks as assigned or delegated to support patient care and department needs.

Schedule
- Full-time and part-time shifts available.
- Available shifts include: 8:00am–4:00pm or 10:00am–6:00pm
- Schedules are Monday–Friday with varied days based on department needs.
- This role does not have a weekend requirement.
- Holiday commitment is required based on FTE.

Perform identified non-clinical tasks as assigned or delegated to support team environment to meet patient care and unit based needs. Transport patients to and from their rooms to treatment rooms either by wheelchair or gurney.
Required Qualifications:
• High school education or equivalent required.
•Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior working experience with customers or patients preferred.
• Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of the use of patient care equipment/supplies preferred.
• Experience with telecommunication systems preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively preferred.
• Ability to multi-task preferred.
• Ability to deal with difficult or challenging customer interactions and escalate to management as appropriate preferred.
