Vice President, Medical Affairs

This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for defining and driving the global medical affairs strategy across both investigational and marketed products in a fast-growing biotech environment. You will serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, shaping scientific, clinical, and medical direction in close collaboration with development, regulatory, commercial, and business teams. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on scientific engagement, requiring active interaction with key opinion leaders, external stakeholders, and internal cross-functional partners. You will build and scale a high-performing medical affairs organization, establish global medical education strategies, and ensure scientific excellence across all communications and programs. This position also plays a critical role in lifecycle management, clinical research oversight, and publication strategy. Operating in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, you will balance long-term vision with urgent execution. This is a remote-based leadership role with periodic travel for external engagement and scientific collaboration.

Accountabilities:

  • Build, lead, and scale the global medical affairs organization, including hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Define and execute global medical affairs strategy for both investigational and commercialized products across therapeutic areas.
  • Provide strategic medical leadership to cross-functional teams including clinical development, regulatory, commercial, and business development functions.
  • Develop and oversee medical education, scientific communication, and field engagement strategies with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
  • Serve as a scientific authority, delivering presentations, training programs, and medical insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead clinical research activities including Phase IV studies, registries, observational research, and investigator-initiated studies.
  • Oversee publication strategy, scientific data dissemination, and medical accuracy of promotional and educational materials.
  • Manage medical affairs budgets, resource allocation, and ensure compliance with global regulatory and industry standards.
  • Monitor scientific and competitive landscapes to inform strategy and organizational decision-making.
  • Requirements:

    • Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent; strong preference for clinical/scientific training).
    • 15+ years of experience in the life sciences industry, including at least 7 years in medical affairs leadership roles.
    • Proven experience in biotech or pharmaceutical environments, ideally spanning both large and mid-sized organizations.
    • Strong therapeutic area expertise in oncology (solid tumors) and/or rare disease strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated success leading product launches and lifecycle management strategies in global markets.
    • Experience engaging and presenting to executive leadership and boards to secure strategic alignment and investment.
    • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing remote, field-based, and cross-functional teams.
    • Deep understanding of global healthcare systems, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
    • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments with a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution.
