Senior Director, Talent Acquisition

Job Classification: Full time; Salaried

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Remote

 

Position Summary

VetEvolve is a private equity–backed, rapidly expanding veterinary services organization. The Senior Director, Talent Acquisition is responsible for designing and executing a scalable, field recruiting strategy that fuels growth, strengthens hospital performance, and positions VetEvolve as an employer of choice. This leader operates at both strategic and tactical levels by developing clear plans, documenting how each component drives success, and ensuring rapid, consistent execution.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and communicate a comprehensive Field Talent Acquisition strategy aligned with organizational goals and outcomes.
  • Partner directly with the SVP, Operations (within the COO’s vertical) to ensure field recruiting priorities are met with urgency, quality, and consistency.
  • Align closely with the Chief People Officer to integrate field TA into the broader talent and culture strategy.
  • Accountability as leader in organization including but not limited to participating in shaping the field TA business direction and priorities in alignment with organization, cross-functional leadership, financial accountability, and executive communication.
  • Define the structure, responsibilities, and goals of the field TA function, including team design, budget planning, and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with HR and Field Leadership on workforce planning to forecast and prioritize field hiring needs.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to senior leadership regarding hiring trends, relief partnerships, and spend optimization.
  • Translate strategy into tactical playbooks, tools, and repeatable processes to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board, highlighting performance, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Identify gaps in capabilities, tools, and technology.
  • Monitor key recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, quality-of-hire, relief spend, student conversion) and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Manage vendor partnerships, recruitment platforms, and external resources to optimize performance and cost.
  • Ensure agility in execution by pivoting strategies and resources in response to evolving business priorities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the field TA team to deliver results with urgency, accountability, and excellence.
  • Set and monitor team goals and MBOs; evaluate performance and address gaps promptly.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and transparency.
  • Partner with Field Operations to align recruiting capacity with practice needs, including relief coverage strategies.
  • Design and implement recruiting campaigns for field roles across veterinary hospitals.
  • Responsible for planning, managing, and delivering on P&L.
  • Proactively manages key internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, clarity of expectations, and timelines needed to deliver outcomes.
  • Collaborate with HR, Marketing and Operations to strengthen VetEvolve’s employer brand and candidate experience.
  • Support Student Programs build and manage robust pipelines through university partnerships, externships, and professional networks.

 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition leadership experience, including 5+ years in senior, multi-functional roles.
  • 3+ years of experience within the veterinary medicine industry preferred.
  • Proven success scaling recruiting operations in a PE-backed or high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build systems, teams, and processes that deliver measurable results.
  • Strong skills in workforce planning, reporting, recruiting technology, and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience preparing Board-level materials.
  • Ability to balance strategic design with hands-on execution.
  • Experience managing recruiting budgets, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with recruitment marketing, student pipelines, and campus programs preferred.

 

Travel Requirements

Business travel required as needed, estimated approximately 25% of the time.
