VP, Head of Social Content

GSD&M · Austin

At GSD&M, we’re on a mission to build First & Only brands, meaning the first to do it and the only ones who can. We’re able to do this because we set a high bar for ourselves and our work. We care about what we put out in the world. We’re humans who like other humans. Our ideas make a difference. Shift culture. Create a smile. Inspire change. Initiate belly laughs. Deepen our understanding of the world and ourselves. We grow. We learn. We get better. We do it all over again. Because that’s what it takes to build and be First & Only.

The Opportunity

GSD&M is looking for a VP, Head of Social Content to lead the creative output of our social media practice. This is one of the most exciting roles we've had to fill in a while.

This isn't a "manage the calendar and approve the posts" job. This is a leadership role for someone who lives and breathes social-first storytelling, someone who knows the difference between content that was adapted for social and content that was born for it. You'll own our creative output across a portfolio of major brands, lead a team of talented content creators, and be the connective tissue between our social and creative departments. If you've spent your career figuring out how to make great work happen, no matter the budget, the timeline, or the creative brief, we want to talk.

What You'll Do

Lead Creative Output

  • Own the quality, vision, and direction of social content across our client portfolio
  • Champion platform-native, social-first creative that's designed to stop the scroll and drive real engagement
  • Bridge the gap between GSD&M's creative department and the realities of social, translating big brand ideas into work that actually performs in-feed
  • Set the bar for what great looks like, then help your team clear it

Build and Develop the Team

  • Directly manage a team of five social content creators, with responsibility for their growth, output, and day-to-day direction
  • Foster a culture of creative ambition, craft, and accountability
  • Partner with the Head of Social Media on team development, hiring, and capability building

Drive Production Excellence

  • Lead end-to-end production of video content, episodic series, and platform-native formats across a diverse portfolio of consumer brands, from concept through delivery
  • Know when to build in-house and when to bring in outside partners, and how to manage both effectively
  • Navigate legal, business affairs, and brand approvals without losing momentum
  • Make smart creative decisions within budget constraints without sacrificing quality

Elevate Influencer & Creator Work

  • Partner with our influencer and external creator teams to ensure partnerships deliver on-brand, high-quality creative outcomes
  • Develop frameworks and feedback processes that get the best out of creator relationships

Be a Client & Creative Leader

  • Present and sell work with confidence and conviction
  • Develop strong client relationships built on trust, creative expertise, and results
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, emerging formats, and cultural moments, and bring that knowledge into the work

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of agency experience, with a significant chunk of that in social content, video production, or content-forward creative roles
  • A portfolio of work that proves you understand how social platforms actually work, not just in theory, but in practice. Deep, hands-on experience with TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube is a must
  • Deep fluency in video production and episodic content formats
  • The operational instincts to manage production partners, budgets, and approvals without losing the creative thread
  • Experience working with influencers and external creator partnerships
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; you can sell an idea as well as you can make one
  • A bias for action and a track record of figuring it out, whatever "it" is

Who You Are

You're a social native who also understands brand. You've sat in enough briefings to know what "the brief" really means, and you've been in enough edit bays to know when something isn't quite there yet. You're energized by the challenge of making platform-first work that clients are proud of. You're not precious about process, but you are passionate about craft. And you know how to lead people toward great work, not by doing it all yourself, but by creating the conditions for your team to thrive.
