Senior Content Strategist

The Role: 

We are seeking a versatile and creative Content Strategist to elevate IonQ’s brand presence and simplify complex quantum technology for our diverse audiences. You will be our "content engine," responsible for both the high-level storytelling that defines our brand. In this role the candidate will support the hands-on creation of visual and written assets. Visual assets might not exist but will need to be developed by external resources. If the candidate possesses photography and video skills, that is a plus. This role will define the assets needed for effective storytelling to our public sector audiences. This is a unique opportunity to drive engagement across the entire marketing funnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Narrative Development: Distill complex quantum information science into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with both the public sector and technical audiences.
  • Strategic Execution: Develop and manage an editorial calendar that aligns with our go-to-market milestones, ensuring a consistent brand voice across all channels - paid, earned, shared and owned.
  • Creative Content Engine: Serve as the primary creator for written content, including website copy, blog posts, video scripts, and social storytelling.
  • Visual Production: Identify the need and lead the execution of visual asset creation. You must be comfortable storyboarding, managing video production that aligns with the storytelling to support our content calendar.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with public sector sales team, R&D, and Government Affairs to uncomplicate technical concepts and transform them into actionable, high-impact content. This role will also work closely with internal social and web teams.
  • Governance & Process: Establish clear processes for content requests, creation, approval, and distribution, ensuring high standards for accuracy, quality, and brand consistency.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in content strategy, creative direction, or a similar role, preferably within tech or emerging science sectors.
  • Demonstrated portfolio showcasing proficiency in storytelling/writing across a variety of channels - social, podcasts, web copy, white papers
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex, highly technical subject matter (e.g., quantum computing, physics, or engineering) into clear, conversational language.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple production streams simultaneously, from initial request to concept, storyboard and final distribution.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with the digital tools and platforms required to produce and distribute content at scale (e.g., CMS, design/editing software, social publication platforms).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Communication or Fine Arts degree/disciplines
  • Video skills, production, skilled with software applications needed to support the job requirements.
  • Proficiency with AI tools and Project Management tools like Airtable.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $84,455 - $110,132. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity.  Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
