Job Summary 

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and field teams in the coordination and execution of construction projects. This role is responsible for assisting with project documentation, scheduling, procurement, and communication to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in alignment with contract requirements. The Project Engineer plays a key role in maintaining organization, tracking project progress, and supporting successful project outcomes. 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Assist in managing project execution by supporting day-to-day activities, monitoring scope, schedule, budget, and contract requirements, and helping identify and address potential project impacts. 
  • Maintain and coordinate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, drawings, specifications, permits, project correspondence, and contract-related records. 
  • Support project planning and controls through schedule updates, cost tracking, invoice review, forecasting assistance, and maintenance of project budgets and performance metrics. 
  • Coordinate procurement and subcontractor activities, including material and equipment purchases, delivery tracking, subcontractor onboarding, contract administration, and compliance monitoring. 
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to facilitate communication, resolve project challenges, and support successful project execution. 
  • Promote safety, quality, and regulatory compliance by ensuring adherence to company policies, project specifications, applicable codes, and contractual requirements. 
  • Assist with field operations and project closeout activities, helping ensure completed work meets quality standards, client expectations, and overall project objectives. 

Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

 

Required: 

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and construction experience. 
  • Construction, project engineering, or related field experience. 
  • Basic understanding of construction means and methods, project documentation, contracts, scheduling, and procurement processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, RFIs, and submittals. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and project success. 

 

Preferred: 

  • Internship or field experience supporting electrical, mechanical, industrial, commercial, or construction projects. 
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, federal, energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects. 
  • Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software. 
  • Exposure to project scheduling, cost tracking, procurement, and contract administration processes. 
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or pursuit of professional licensure is a plus.

Work Environment: 

  • Indoor office environments involving project planning, coordination, documentation, and reporting activities. 
  • Outdoor construction and industrial sites with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, uneven terrain, and construction-related hazards. 
  • Fabrication shops and operational facilities with exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and other environmental factors. 
  • Frequent visits to active project sites to monitor progress, support field operations, and coordinate project execution. 
  • Travel requirements: up to 10% of time. 

This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
