Operations Engineer - New Grad

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Operations Engineer – New Grad based in India.

This role offers an entry point into large-scale production infrastructure and site reliability engineering within a high-availability environment managing millions of mailboxes and massive daily email traffic. You will be part of a highly technical operations team responsible for ensuring system reliability, performance, and uptime across globally distributed systems. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting, automation, and infrastructure support, giving you exposure to real-world production challenges at scale. You will work closely with engineers, system administrators, and product teams to resolve incidents, improve system stability, and enhance operational efficiency. This is a learning-intensive environment where you will develop strong foundations in Linux systems, networking, scripting, and distributed infrastructure. It is an opportunity to grow into a highly skilled reliability engineer while contributing directly to mission-critical systems.

Accountabilities:

  • Support system reliability and uptime by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production incidents across large-scale email and infrastructure systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to handle escalations, outages, and urgent operational issues in real time.
  • Diagnose and resolve system, application, and network-related issues across distributed environments.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to eliminate repetitive operational tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, networking, and operations teams to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining Linux-based systems, including performance tuning and system optimization.
  • Support deployment, configuration management, and infrastructure operations using automation tools and version control systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and proposing long-term fixes.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (new graduates welcome).
    • Strong foundational knowledge of Linux operating systems, including process management, memory, storage, and networking concepts.
    • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals such as OSI model, TCP/IP, and DNS.
    • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or similar.
    • Understanding of version control systems like Git.
    • Exposure to databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL is a plus.
    • Awareness of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is advantageous.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to work in production support and on-call environments.
    • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional, global teams.
