Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Program Manager and play a key role in driving innovation and operational excellence across our organization. As a program leader, you will coordinate cross-functional projects that support scientific advancement and customer success. You will manage programs from customer engagement through successful product delivery, ensuring disciplined execution while fostering collaboration across functional teams. This role offers the opportunity to apply your program management expertise to deliver high-quality outcomes that enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

In this position, you will develop and maintain integrated project plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the organization. You will proactively identify and mitigate risks, facilitate timely decision-making, and drive accountability to ensure successful program execution. Your organizational skills, collaborative approach, and ability to manage competing priorities will be essential in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.

What you will do?

  • Lead, manage, coordinate, and be accountable for the execution of programs from Customer Engagement through Product Delivery, Launch, and Program Closure.
  • Manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously with varying levels of complexity and scope.
  • Serve as the primary communication link between the Core Team and key stakeholders, providing regular status updates and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Prepare and present Program Reviews and project status updates to functional leadership; facilitate issue resolution and exception reviews as required.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Develop resource plans and partner with functional managers to secure required project resources.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans aligned with business objectives, project constraints, and identified risks.
  • Drive program risk identification, assessment, mitigation planning, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, communicate status to stakeholders, resolve schedule deviations, and facilitate core team meetings.
  • Collaborate across functional areas, including R&D, Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Service, and other key stakeholders, to ensure successful program execution.
  • Lead program closeout activities, including lessons learned, best practice documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with core team members, extended teams, functional managers, and key stakeholders.

Key to Success:

Education

  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in program or project management leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Life Sciences, Computer Science, Business, or related technical discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Agile or SAFe certifications are advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing cross-functional programs and delivering business results.
  • Working knowledge of product development processes, stage-gate methodologies, and quality systems.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and drive timely issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while driving accountability and execution.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining awareness of overall program objectives and business priorities.
  • Experience with project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic financial management skills, including project budget tracking and resource planning.
  • Ability to adapt communication and leadership style based on project needs and stakeholder audience.
