The Quality Technician II is responsible for performing inspections, reverse engineering activities, and other measurement-related tasks in support of programs across all phases of the product development lifecycle, from prototype through low-volume production, within an ISO 9001-certified engineering and manufacturing environment.

A successful Quality Technician II partners closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to provide accurate data and quality support needed to enable effective decision-making and execution of job responsibilities. This role is expected to perform most essential functions and required technical skills with minimal guidance.

In addition to working with internal teams, the Quality Technician II will interact with external suppliers to communicate quality issues and support resolution efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Dimensional inspection of parts to engineering drawings and/or CAD models
  • Creation of ballooned engineering drawings/inspection report templates
  • Create, compile and maintain inspection records and other required documentation
  • Examine incoming parts and documentation to confirm correct specifications and established standards are met
  • Interface internally and with suppliers to give feedback on part quality issues
  • Part numbering and traceability
  • Reverse engineering measurement
  • Non-destructive testing of parts
  • Communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient with Windows based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Investigate nonconformances and support root cause analysis

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3-6 years of work experience in manufacturing environment in quality/inspection

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience using hand measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to operate FaroArm scanning and probing equipment using CAM2 or PolyWorks inspection software, or experience with other portable measurement equipment.
  • Ability to run inspection programs on a Zeiss CNC CMM using Calypso software.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T, datum structures, alignments, and tolerances, along with selecting appropriate measurement methods such as arm, scanner, or CMM.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using optical comparators for inspection.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires occasional moderate physical activity
  • Moving and maneuvering heavy objects may be required at times

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • 7:30 AM start time, Monday-Friday
  • 40-hour standard work week with overtime paid as worked when required
  • Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines sometimes working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of quality lab and manufacturing areas
  • Periodic travel may be required between facilities
