About the Role
Are you an experienced Sales Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? At HPE, we’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our high-performing team as a Presales Consulting Systems Engineer, supporting one of our key strategic customers—Vodafone UK & Ireland.
In this role, you’ll be a critical part of the account team, combining your deep technical expertise with strong consulting skills to help shape innovative network solutions. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving new business opportunities, influencing technical decisions, and delivering real value to one of the world’s leading telecom providers.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a trusted technical advisor, you will:
Act as the lead presales technical expert for the Vodafone account
Identify, develop, and drive new business opportunities
Deliver technical presentations, workshops, and solution demonstrations
Lead Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and customer lab engagements
Support RFx responses, bids, and solution proposals
Build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders and decision-makers
Provide expertise across evolving network domains, including:
Fixed broadband access
End-to-end network automation
Network disaggregation and virtualisation
Network security infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual with a strong mix of technical depth and consulting capability.
Essential Experience & Skills
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in presales, sales engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role
Strong expertise in advanced networking technologies, including:
MPLS L3VPN, EVPN, Segment Routing
Advanced BGP
Transport SDN (PCE)
Network automation, telemetry, CG-NAT
Experience with fixed broadband networks, particularly:
BNG and CUPS architectures
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage large audiences
Strong collaboration skills in a competitive sales environment
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience designing or supporting large-scale backbone or data centre networks
Knowledge of network security for mobile infrastructure (e.g., SEG, Gi Firewall, DDoS mitigation)
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, and SDN/NFV architectures
Understanding of 5G, ORAN, and Packet Core architecture
Experience working with Tier-1 Service Providers
Knowledge of HPE Juniper solutions and competitor landscape
Relevant certifications (e.g., JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CISSP, CCIE)
