Sales / Pre-Sales Engineer - Data Platform

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales / Pre-Sales Engineer – Data Platform based in the United States.

This role is a high-impact, hands-on technical pre-sales position at the center of complex enterprise data transformation deals. You will act as the technical backbone of the sales cycle, leading discovery sessions, demonstrating platform value, and driving proof-of-concept (POC) engagements that directly determine deal success. Working with regulated enterprises across banking, insurance, healthcare, and government, you will translate complex data estates into clear risk and migration insights, including blast-radius and impact analysis. This is a 0→1 environment where you will help shape not only deals but also the evolving product and go-to-market motion. You will collaborate closely with both sales and delivery teams, ensuring seamless transition from POC to implementation. The role requires strong technical credibility across modern and legacy data ecosystems, combined with the ability to influence both technical stakeholders and executive decision-makers. It is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous, early-stage environments and enjoys building trust through technical proof rather than pitch decks.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead technical discovery sessions with data, platform, and architecture leaders at enterprise and regulated organizations
  • Own end-to-end platform assessments, mapping customer data estates and identifying migration risks, dependencies, and blast radius impact
  • Design, run, and deliver high-quality demos and proof-of-concept (POC) engagements using real customer environments and data challenges
  • Address complex technical objections related to security, perimeter constraints, lineage, legacy systems, and build-vs-buy decisions
  • Translate technical findings into clear, structured value narratives for both technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Scope technical engagements and collaborate with delivery teams to ensure smooth handoff and successful implementation
  • Provide structured feedback from field engagements to influence product direction and platform improvements
  • Support the full sales cycle as the primary technical authority on data platform capability and feasibility
  • Requirements:

    • 3+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or similar customer-facing technical roles in enterprise software
    • Strong hands-on knowledge of data ecosystems including ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DataStage), warehouses/lakehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Teradata), dbt, BI, lineage, and governance tools
    • Proven ability to run POCs that demonstrate real-world value and build customer trust, not just product demos
    • Experience working with enterprise or regulated customers (financial services, insurance, healthcare, or public sector preferred)
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts and lead with structured, outcome-oriented messaging
    • Comfort operating across both technical teams and senior business stakeholders
    • Experience working in startup or 0→1 environments where processes, messaging, and motion are still evolving
    • AI fluency with demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate discovery, analysis, and solution development
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary range of $150,000–$185,000 USD plus bonus and incentive opportunities
      • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
      • Fully remote flexibility within eligible U.S. states, with approximately 25% travel
      • Opportunity to work in a high-growth, early-stage environment shaping both product and go-to-market strategy
      • Exposure to complex, high-value enterprise deals in regulated industries
      • Strong autonomy and ownership across the full technical sales lifecycle
      • Career growth potential in a rapidly scaling data platform organization.
