Why this Role Matters
As an important contributor to the Luxembourg Metrology organization, this role brings specialized expertise in NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), supporting the generation of reliable and high-quality analytical data. Through hands-on testing, method development, and continuous refinement of analytical techniques, it helps strengthen the robustness and consistency of laboratory processes. Closely connected to product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, this role supports shared objectives by ensuring clarity, trust, and confidence in results, while maintaining strong attention to safety, quality, and well-documented practices that support collective success.
What You’ll Do
Support the local NMR expertise by contributing to daily operations, assisting with thoughtful troubleshooting, and collaborating closely with the team on technical questions.
Perform routine and semi-routine NMR analyses with care and precision, ensuring high-quality results through calibration, data review, and thorough quality checks.
Contribute to the development and refinement of NMR methods in a collaborative and open way, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Take part in additional analytical activities using techniques such as TGA, DSC, FTIR, Raman, combustion elemental analysis, and porosity measurements.
Prepare and handle samples carefully, following validated procedures and ensuring adherence to safety standards at all times.
Support the application and continuous improvement of analytical methods, learning from senior colleagues and contributing to shared expertise.
Maintain clear, structured, and useful documentation to ensure knowledge is accessible and well preserved across the team.
Participate in shared laboratory responsibilities such as calibration, troubleshooting, and careful maintenance of equipment to support smooth operations.
Communicate openly and constructively about testing progress, fostering strong and supportive collaboration with internal teams to meet analytical needs.
What you’ll bring
A Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with solid confidence in operating NMR spectrometers (solution 1D/2D); exposure to solid-state NMR is an advantage.
Experience with a range of analytical techniques such as FTIR, TGA, DSC, and chromatography (GC, LC, GPC).
Strong skills in sample preparation, instrument calibration and maintenance, and data integrity, with familiarity in laboratory data management systems considered a plus.
A solid understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory safety, with consistent and careful adherence to SOPs and best practices.
Ability to design experiments, support method validation, interpret data trends, and communicate findings in a clear and collaborative way.
A curious, structured, and team-oriented mindset, with strong communication skills in English and a genuine interest in working collaboratively to solve problems.
We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Even if you don’t meet every listed qualification, we encourage you to apply.
