Senior SecOps Engineer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior SecOps Engineer based in Mexico.
This is a high-impact security engineering role focused on protecting and evolving large-scale cloud-native systems in a fast-growing fintech environment. You will design and implement end-to-end security solutions across AWS infrastructure and application layers, ensuring strong defense-in-depth across distributed systems. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic security architecture, spanning detection, prevention, monitoring, and incident response. You will work closely with product, engineering, and DevOps teams in a DevSecOps model to embed security into every stage of the development lifecycle. Operating in a data-driven and cloud-first organization, you will leverage automation and modern tooling, including AI-assisted security operations, to strengthen resilience and response capabilities. This position is ideal for a security engineer passionate about cloud-native environments and building secure systems at scale.
Accountabilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud security architecture and controls across AWS-based infrastructure and applications using a defense-in-depth approach.
- Develop and automate security solutions for hardening, vulnerability management, threat detection, logging, monitoring, and incident response.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and IT teams to embed security best practices into CI/CD pipelines and system design.
- Manage and enhance security controls across AWS services including IAM, WAF, security groups, EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, and logging/monitoring systems.
- Support incident response activities, including triage, investigation, containment, and remediation of security events.
- Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices, including shift-left security, infrastructure as code, and automated security testing.
- Evaluate and implement third-party and native cloud security tools to strengthen detection, protection, and compliance posture.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to improve security operations efficiency and threat response.
- 5–7 years of experience in cloud security or SecOps roles within AWS or similar public cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience securing cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as IAM, WAF, EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, and related networking/security components.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation of security controls.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native security domains including IAM, API security, encryption, container security, and vulnerability management.
- Experience working in DevSecOps environments alongside Engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams.
- Familiarity with security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability scanning tools.
- Scripting or automation experience (Python preferred) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes security, endpoint security, or DLP solutions is highly desirable.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Security, CISSP, CEH, or OSCP are a plus.
