Metsä Board, Europe’s leading producer of premium fresh-fibre based paperboards and innovative and sustainable packaging solutions, is looking for a Logistics Specialist with English to join our Last Leg Logistics Team in Metsä Board’s European Supply Chain Centre (SCC) in Gdańsk.
Your role in the future Metsä
As a Logistics Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient delivery operations across international logistics flows. You will cooperate closely with internal stakeholders, customers, warehouses, and logistics vendors to secure high-quality transport execution and continuous service improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and monitoring daily delivery and transport operations
- Proactively following up deliveries to ensure on-time and in-full performance (OTIF)
- Tracking shipments and managing transport deviations, delays, and claims
- Ensuring logistics service providers operate according to agreed service levels and distribution channels
- Supporting resolution of delivery and transport-related customer issues
- Cooperating closely with sales, customer service, warehouses, mills, and logistics vendors
- Supporting transport planning and optimization, including payload and loading capacity utilization
- Preparing operational reports, KPIs, and performance analyses
- Monitoring transport costs and supporting corrective actions when needed
- Supporting warehouse-related logistics tasks and inventory activities where applicable
- Participating in process improvement, digitalization, and logistics development initiatives
- Working in line with team targets, company policies, procedures, and values
What is required from you:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transport operations
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Service- and solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Good organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills
- Experience in shipment tracking and transport coordination
- Basic knowledge of international logistics regulations and transport documentation (e.g. CMR, Incoterms)
- Good analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic international environment
- Good knowledge of MS Office; SAP or other ERP system knowledge will be an advantage
- Cargo loading capacity planning skills
Nice to have:
- Experience in cooperation with logistics vendors and carriers
- Experience in warehouse or distribution operations
- Knowledge of transport performance KPIs and logistics cost analysis
- Continuous improvement mindset and interest in process optimization
