Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Production Planner (Level 2) or a Principal Production Planner (Level 3) to join our team in Magna, UT.     

Production planning is integral to the value stream success and are responsible for a variety of processes, including last mile material coordination, “make” item movement and scheduling, manufacturing order maintenance and scheduling, and material consumption. They also review demand planning systems to ensure needed flight materials are available in inventory and issued to the manufacturing team to support operations. 

This position will report to the Production Control Manager for the Bacchus Value Stream in Magna, Utah and then transition to our Promontory Value Stream in Corrine, Utah in 1-2 years. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

•  Create, issue, manage, and maintain manufacturing orders to control and support production on the manufacturing floor
•  Utilizes and manages MRP systems (Costpoint and Sync) to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials in time to meet production schedule and requirements
•  Interfaces with Material Planning and Receiving Quality Control to ensure parts are in inventory in time to support the production plan
•  Ensure that all materials needed for manufacturing orders is picked and delivered to point of use and that materials are consumed accurately and timely in the MRP system
•  Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
•  Schedules and expedites the movement of materials by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders through inert and explosive areas.
•  Seeks process and planning feedback from operations and incorporates into planning where possible.
•  Reconcile inventory problems by leveraging relationships with other departments: including operations, processing engineering, stores, receiving quality control, end item, quality engineering, shipping, and material planning
• Assists in implementing change in the MRP system and planning via the change control process.

This position can be filled at either level 2 or level 3.

Basic Qualifications for level 2:

•  HS diploma and 6 years experience working in operations, operations management, process manufacturing, or engineering support, or a Bachelors Degree with 2 years experience, or a Masters degree.

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
•  Excellent computer skills with the ability to become an expert in the company's MRP system, Electronic Shop Floor work instruction software and document/engineering management software
•  Excellent writing and communication skills
•  Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality controls
•  Excellent productivity and organizational skills
•  Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
•  Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and execute quickly at the highest quality
•  Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies

•  Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies
•  Experience in working in Costpoint, specifically: MO maintenance, demand generation, abbrevs, and material movement
•  Experience creating and maintaining schedules
•  Experience in Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environments
•  Advanced technical skills and ability to leverage technology to simplify tasks
•  Familiarity with Government procedures
•  Understanding or certification in Lean Manufacturing.
•  Proven history of leveraging multiple departments to solve complex issues

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,600.00 - $89,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
