Location Information (Hybrid):

This role is based at our Burlington, Ontario facility, supporting our Lab Automation group, an ISO 9001 certified organization. We offer a hybrid working arrangement with up to 1 day per week remote working. At this location we design, manufacture, and install robotic solutions globally to help our major customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields accelerate their drug discovery and synthetic biology research. How you will make an impact: 

The Senior Sourcing Specialist leads the supplier management process to achieve the company objectives. Collaborates with a cross-functional team of project management, technical, quality, finance and other key colleagues to prioritize sourcing initiatives, develops sourcing strategies, negotiates contracts, supports spend migration from incumbent to preferred suppliers, and manages preferred supplier relationships.

What you will contribute:

Sourcing and Procurement

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity.
  • Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify qualified vendors and evaluate capabilities, capacity, and risk.
  • Lead sourcing activities for New Product Introduction (NPI), including identifying and qualifying suppliers, supporting design-to-cost initiatives, and ensuring timely material readiness for product launches.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure optimal value while protecting company interests.
  • Manage cost drivers such as inflation, sourcing savings, and purchased price variance (PPV); analyze spend data and market trends to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee supplier onboarding and drive supplier development initiatives to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and delivery expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, project management) to align sourcing strategies with business and project requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, proactively resolving issues to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports on sourcing activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and key procurement metrics.
  • Provide material delivery status updates to Project Managers and coordinate work order releases to support production schedules.
  • Manage and maintain supplier agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), ensuring accuracy and compliance.

How will you get here?

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • 10 years’ relevant procurement/sourcing experience preferred in a project based or manufacturing environment
  • CSCP or SCMP designation is preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Highly self-sufficient with the ability to manage sourcing activities independently, prioritize effectively, and drive results.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting spend data, market trends, and cost drivers to inform strategic decisions.
  • Solid understanding of procurement strategies, supply chain operations, and inventory management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and modeling (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data visualization).
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred) to manage purchasing and supplier data.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

The estimated annualized pay range for this position in Ontario is $76,400.00–$114,575.00.
