Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous maintenance experience will be considered preferred.  Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Requirements: Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Job Title:  Maintenance Generalist 05                                                                                                       

                                                                                                                                       

Location: Tennessee Farms, Lafayette, TN

Schedule:  Mon - Fri

Hours: Start and end times may vary. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

  • This position is responsible for assisting in installing, repairing, and servicing QA facility and Contract Grower houses with minor repairs, projects and equipment.   Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair and service equipment and modules for Tennessee Farms QA Facility (25%)
  • Maintain wash bay pressure washers and fuel levels in equipment. (10%)
  • Change disinfectant and soap drums in both wash bays. (10%)
  • General maintenance of all QA facility and grounds. (20%)
  • Help with farm projects such as Bird Proofing, Nest Grounding, and Other biosecurity/AW improvements. (25%)

Other Duties, Responsibilities and Activities:

  • These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.  Such as: assisting crew with vaccination or move process as needed, new team member training as needed, and on call as needed.  (10%) 

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.  Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly be able to lift and/or move 30 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds at times.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to read and write and perform simple math.
  • Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, etc.; power tools such as drill, saws-all, table saw, etc.; equipment such as cutting torch, welder, vehicle jack, tractor/loader; and safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.  Ear plugs will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. 
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, etc.
  • Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.  TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks. 

General Sign Off: The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies.  Failure to perform this job to above standards could lead to progressive discipline up to and including termination.
