About the role

Christchurch Engine Centre is recruiting multiple qualified Level 4 Aircraft Tradespeople (permanent, full-time) to support the expansion of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine in New Zealand. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in aviation, mechanical, heavy diesel, automotive, electrical or related trades. This role is based onsite in Christchurch, NZ.

The ideal candidate is willing to work rotating shifts and overtime, demonstrates strong attention to detail, prioritises safety, follows established procedures, and has a proactive approach to learning. Hours of Work

In this full-time position you will work in a fortnightly rotating shift pattern (One-week dayshifts: 7:00am–3:30pm and one-week nightshifts: 3:45pm–12:15am).

Availability to work overtime is appreciated and compensated accordingly.

Main tasks:

  • Work at designated workstations within Assembly or Disassembly following successful completion of induction training.
  • Operate tools, machines, and equipment to perform detailed engine assembly, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Carry out engine work as per manufacturer’s manuals and customer-specific requirements to carry out all tasks.
  • Interpret engine manuals and adhere strictly to work instructions, ensuring precision and quality at all stages.
  • Meet timelines and milestones to deliver engines to testing and back to the customer on time without compromising safety and quality.
  • Carry out SAP transactions and make necessary changes to works order in SAP.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed in line with quality and compliance standards.
  • Ensuring that your work meets all health and safety requirements.

What We’re Looking for

To be successful in this role, you will be:

  • Trade Qualified – NZQA Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands on experience in aerospace, automotive, mechanical engineering or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow processes and technical instructions accurately.
  • Able to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, and twisting.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and good organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all tasks.
  • Willingness to work rotating day/night shifts and overtime as required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in Engine MRO or the aerospace industry.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engine manuals.
