Job Description Summary
We are looking for an Engineer that will work in the mechanical equipment team performing project execution tasks in Gas Power organization for new units. The scope of the team is execution of all mechanical equipment in the Water steam cycle like: feedwater, condensate and Main cooling water pumps, Bypass and drum Level control valves, Dessuperheaters, evacuation equipment, Closed cooling water and Main cooling water equipment . The engineer will be also working in development of new technologies and products like carbon capture and new WSC designs.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Drive common tools and processes to advance standard work and lean within Engineering
- Execute engineering design and development consisting of a variety of engineering calculations and analyses, rigorous documentation of results, and implementation of design decisions into the product.
- Lead mechanical spec definition and drive supplier technical discussions for selection of supplier for PO placement. Review and approve supplier documentation after PO for the mech equipment you are assigned.
- Execute activities for product development for WSC mech equipment. Partner with Systems and Controlled Title Holders to strike the right balance between program spend, product cost, performance, & reliability.
- Perform engineering which results in the highest quality product for GE customers, for assigned systems, sub-systems, and components, ensuring that critical requirements such as product cost, product technical performance, and project schedule are satisfied.
- Travel on demand to sites for inspections or commissioning support.
- Ensure accurate and timely definition and preparation of system functional and operational requirements, engineering drawings, and functional specifications. Be 100% accountable for quality and on time delivery of product / drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Engage and contribute to ongoing continuous product and process quality improvement initiatives, including improving the maintainability, performance, compliance safety, cost, and reliability of designs through design practices, initiatives, and direct material productivity.
- Provide real-time engineering support to Commissioning, Sourcing, Quality, Product Service, Projects team and other teams as required.
- Be a team player and be open for coaching and mentoring of more experienced team members.
- Provide weekly reporting key process indicators and proactively communicate risk to TL.
Required Qualifications
- Master/Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Knowhow of equipment design, Valves, Pumps
- Fluent English
Desired Characteristics
- Self-motivated and able to develop, document, and execute engineering assignments with limited supervision
- Engineering design and validation experience in power plant equipment in the water steam cycle Mechanical equipment, such as Pumps, Valves and Heat Exchangers.
- Experience working with drafting software (Visio, Comos and Aveva) are a plus
- Experience working with a global engineering team
- Ability to rapidly change directions for multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
- Availability to travel in short notice to short site assignment around world
- Ability to perform well in a team both locally and across a global environment
- Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
- Effective communication skills, oral and written
