Moog Machinist Apprentice

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is excited to hire a cohort of 8–10 Machinist Apprentices to begin in Fall 2026. This structured apprenticeship program is designed to develop the next generation of skilled machinists through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience.

This is more than a job; it’s a long-term career opportunity. Apprentices will join us at a pivotal time as we transition from our current shop floor into a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, gaining exposure to modern equipment, evolving processes, and advanced aerospace manufacturing.

Program Overview

- Program Length: Approximately 30 months

- On-the-Job Training: 5,000 hours of hands-on experience

- Education Partner: Erie Community College (ECC)

- Final Role: Full-time Machinist upon successful completion; Shift to-be determined

- Business Unit: Military Aircraft Group

What You’ll Do

- Train alongside experienced machinists in a precision manufacturing environment

- Learn to operate CNC and manual machining equipment

- Develop skills in blueprint reading, measurements, and geometric tolerancing

- Gain experience across multiple shifts and areas to build well-rounded capabilities

- Contribute to real production work supporting critical aerospace programs

- Be part of a team supporting the transition to a new manufacturing facility

Education & Coursework

- Complete approximately 10–11 courses at Erie Community College (typically 2 per semester)

- Enroll in ECC’s Industrial Technology program (degree completion optional)

- Participate in online Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) training

Compensation & Benefits

- Starting Pay: $22/hour

- Full-time, regular employment status

- Tuition reimbursement per Moog’s Tuition Assistance Policy

- Paid on-the-job training and structured development

Basic Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED

- Ability to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as required by the program

- Willingness to balance work schedule with coursework requirements

Preferred Qualifications

- At least 6 months of experience or exposure to a manufacturing or production environment

- Mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work

- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Program Expectations

- Flexibility to rotate shifts based on training needs

- Ability to make up work time when coursework conflicts with scheduled shifts

- Commitment to completing both on-the-job and academic requirements

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $20.00–$22.00 Hourly

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits. 

This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
