Location: This is a field-based role supporting customers primarily across Eastern Belgium and the Netherlands. Travel of up to 40% is required, with regular customer site visits and occasional overnight stays.

As a Field Service Engineer within the Laboratory Products Division, you will service a range of laboratory equipment including Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs), Water Purification Systems, Centrifuges, and CO2 Incubators. You will provide responsive technical support and deliver on-site service solutions that help customers maximize the performance of their Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments.

A Day in the Life:

Perform field service activities in accordance with internal quality standards and customer regulations while delivering exceptional customer support and technical expertise.

What to expect:

• Perform on-site installations, validations, preventive maintenance, and repairs of laboratory equipment.

• Troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of technical issues of varying complexity.

• Coordinate service schedules with colleagues, service operations, and management in line with customer Service Level Agreements.

• Train and instruct customers on the safe and effective use of instruments.

• Provide proactive telephone and email-based technical support.

• Deliver an outstanding customer experience to drive satisfaction and loyalty.

• Support customers and colleagues both within and outside the primary region of responsibility.

• Generate timely and accurate service reports, expense reports, and related documentation.

• Identify and communicate sales opportunities to local account managers.

• Provide feedback to internal teams to improve documentation, procedures, and service processes.

Keys to Success:

Education

• Qualification or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Experience working in a high-tech service environment.

• Experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on technical equipment.

• Experience working independently in a customer-facing field service role is advantageous.

• Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Strong IT skills.

• Valid driving license.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in French and Dutch would be highly desirable.

• Customer-focused, service-minded, and professional approach.

• Strong organizational and administrative skills, including reporting and customer follow-up.

• Ability to work independently while remaining connected to a remote team environment.

• Commercial awareness and ability to identify business opportunities.

• Curiosity and willingness to stay current with technology and IT trends.

• Self-motivated with a desire to learn and take on new challenges.
